    You did not state what your specific issues might be.


    I do see two (2) real-time protection anti-malware programs running at the same time:

    The second item is essentially an enhanced version release of the first. The two together could be responsible for serious PC slowdown issues or potential stability problems (freezing, etc.?). You should definitely uninstall the 'Giant' version in 'Add/Remove Programs (Control Panel).



    POST A REVISED HIJACKTHIS LOG for review:
    Reboot and post a new HijackThis log with any feedback as appropriate - how things are now behaving: any new or remaining apparent issues.

    My computer problems are:
    1. My computer has a damaged file system and sometimes runs in loops at startup. It says that XP failed to start and gives me the options of starting in safe mode, last known good config, or normal startup. When i choose any of these, it runs in a loop and goes back to the same screen without starting XP.

    2. I then reboot from the Windows XP SP2 setup disks and run chkdsk /r, which fixes the file system and allows me to start XP.

    3. This is the second time I have rebooted from the setup disks, and after the first time it kept giving me the message Corrupt File: C:\$Secure and ran chkdsk upon almost every startup. So far after the second reboot from Setup, it hasnt given me any messages about a corrupt file.

    4. While running the Ad-Aware scan, my anti-virus protection (Symantec) popped up with this:

    Keep in mind that your file system problems might be indicative of a failing drive. Make sure you have current backups of ALL critical user files. You may have to consider replacing your hard drive if your problems persist.



    To clean your temp folder, recycle bin, etc..please download this free tool:

    Install Options:
    • [Don't install any Toolbars, or other programs, should it ask you!
    • Just uncheck the option of installing the Yahoo toolbar.

    It will put a shortcut on your Desktop.

    Select the ‘Cleaner’ BUTTON option (top LEFT), if not already selected. Use the ’Windows’ TAB up front by default.
    • Uncheck ‘Cookies’ option (advisable)
    • Optionally, Uncheck ‘Recently Typed URLs’ option (potentially still useful)
    • Click the ‘Analyse’ button.
    • Thereafter, click ‘Run Cleaner’ after you have reviewed what it proposes to clean.

    Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.

    • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the name.
    • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
    • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
