    Welcome to DAL,

Create a folder such as C:\HJT or C:\Program Files\HJT and move HJT.exe into the newly created folder so we can have avaiable backups in case you fix the wrong thing or I make a mistake. Very important.

Well you got worms and Trojans running around also, so let's do this first:

Please download, install, and update the NEW free version of Ewido trojan scanner:
[*]When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
[*]When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
[*]From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
[*]After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
[*]Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run.
[*]If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. We have been finding some cases of false positives with the new version of Ewido, so we need to step through the fixes one-by-one. If Ewido finds something that you KNOW is legitimate (for example, parts of AVG Antivirus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk" have been flagged), select "none" as the action. DO NOT check "Perform action with all infections". If you are unsure of an entry, select "none" for the time being. I'll see that in the log you will post later and let you know if ewido needs to be run again.
[*]When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again.

Post the log Ewido makes back here please and a new hijackthis log. Thanks.

Go here http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html and run an online scan with BitDefender (you will need to use Internet Explorer for this scan). When the ActiveX Control has loaded, click on "Click here to scan" and grab a coffee.

When BitDefender completes the scan, select the "Detected Problems" tab. Click on "Click here to export scan". Save the file as an HTML to your Desktop. Then click on the saved file and allow it to open with your browser. Go to Edit - Select All then copy/paste that log back here. Post back and let us know what it found (post the log).

    I need Ewido log
    I need BitDefender log
I need a new hijackthis log. Thanks

Thanks for the help thus far - below are the three requested logs. My home page seems to have changed back to google.com already, which is promising.

    Hi,

I need you to do me a favor, this file below could possibly be RapidBlaster. I need you to do a search in your Program Files folder and see if this folder is there:

taskmngr.exe > (In a "Taskmngr" folder in Program Files Folder)

We will not fix that until we find out if that Taskmngr Folder is there in Program files Folder.

Go here to learn how to show hidden files/folders:

    http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html#5

    Re-hide after we are done

Download Clean.bat to your desktop(Save page as or Save as): for later use to clean out your TEMPORARY and PREFETCH files.
    http://www.thatcomputerguy.us/downloads/clean.bat

Run hijackthis and put checks next to these:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://shdocpe.dll/asst.htm

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [AIM95 Startup] aim95.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windows Updater] iexplorerrs.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [Windows Updater] iexplorerrs.exe

make sure all browser windows are closed and click FIX

Now reboot into safe mode by tapping your F8 key upon restart and safe mode screen appears, select safe mode and press enter.

Navigate to these files or folders using Windows Explorer (OR Start -> Search) and delete (if present):

    DELETE FILES:

    aim95.exe
    iexplorerrs.exe

Now run that clean batch file you created earlier, type in 'Y' a couple of times and press enter each time you type in "Y" until black box disappears.

    Then:

Go to Start > Run and type: CLEANMGR.EXE and hit enter.
When prompted select the C: drive and click ok.
    Check the boxes for:
    Temporary Internet Files
    Downloaded Program Files
    Recycle Bin
    Temporary Files
    Click OK or Enter

    Reboot

Make sure you are set to normal startup. Click Start -> Run -> Type Msconfig -> Press Enter -> make sure Startup is set to Normal Start

Post a new HJT log for further review

Many thanks again for the further help - I couldn't find the taskmngr.exe file nor could I seem to locate the aim95.exe and iexplorerrs.exe in safe mode.

However, everything else seemed to go to plan - below is the new HijackThis log - the options I fixed seemed to be OK according to that.

    Hi,

Well a new infection as reared it's ugly head, you have a coolwebsearch infection, so here we go on that.

Download SpSeHjfix for XP/2000 from here – do not run it yet:
    http://www.trojaner-info.de/cgi-bin...gi?file=sphjfix

To clean your temp folder, recycle bin, etc..please download this free tool:Don't run the tool yet

    CCleaner

Don't install any Toolbars, or other programs, should it ask you!Just uncheck the option of installing the Yahoo toolbar.
It will put a shortcut on your Desktop.
Click on CCleaner to start it. Then click "Run Cleaner", just use the windows tab up front by default.

Now reboot into safe mode by tapping your F8 key upon restart and safe mode screen appears, select safe mode and press enter.

    * Run CCleaner (in its default FILE settings only).Windows tab up front by default

    * In safe mode doubleclick SpSeHjfix.exe and click " Desinfektion starten", than the tool will restart the computer.

Save the log SpSeHjfix makes and should be located in the same folder that you put the exe into.

Please post the SpSeHjfix logfile and a HijackThis log to check the results of your cleanup. There are/will likely be several more issues to resolve.

Unfortunately the link for SpSeHjfix wouldn't work. Is there any other way I can download it?

    Thanks

OK let's do this the old long way.

Go to start >run and type: services.msc and click OK
Scroll down in that list and look if the following services are present:

    Network Security Service (NSS)
    Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper
    Workstation NetLogon Service

Please make sure it is exactly the same written as above, because there are also legit services that look very much the same as the ones above, so please choose the right one!! For example, there's also a legit service called Remote Procedure Call (RPC), without the word Helper in it. That is a good one, so please don't select that one.

Doubleclick on the service(s). In the window that will appear, click on "Stop" (if not greyed out) and change the Startup Type to disabled.
Click apply and OK and close all open windows.

    Then...

Run HijackThis -> config -> misc tools -> delete an NT service(if there)
In the box, type or copy/paste :

    Network Security Service (NSS)

    Then OK, reboot,

Do the same for these if there:

    Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper
    Workstation NetLogon Service

OK let's download the needed tools to get rid of this infection:

Please read the complete post first, you should copy and paste this post to a new text Document or print it.

To clean your temp folder, recycle bin, etc..please download this free tool:

    CCleaner

Don't install any Toolbars, or other programs, should it ask you!Just uncheck the option of installing the Yahoo toolbar.
It will put a shortcut on your Desktop.
Click on CCleaner to start it. Then click "Run Cleaner", just use the windows tab up front by default. Don't run the tool yet just download and install for later use

    Next,
Download the Intermute stand-alone version of CWShredder from here: cwshredder.net/bin/CWShredder.exe
Install it and check for updates then exit, we will use it later.

    Download About:Buster from here:

    http://majorgeeks.com/download4289.html

Unzip it to its own DESKTOP folder, right click open area on the desktop, click new, the new folder, name the folder Aboutbuster . It is VITAL that it be unzipped.

Please open/run the program and check for updates. After you update it exit.
Do not run the actual scan/fix until instructed.

After installing all needed tools, give me a new hijackthis log and then we will start cleaning your computer. thanks.
