    Internet Connection Shutting Down

Hi. My first post. My internat connection keeps shutting down on me. I run Firefox most of the time but this seems to be worse than IE (which I'm posting this using, and it has remained open). Would appreciate a quick once over of my registry so HJT log posted. I'm running Spybot, Adaware, Spywareguard, TrojanHunter, Norton AV and Internet Protection. (I've been "hit" before !!!). Any help appreciated

    Welcome to DAL,

Please download, install, and update the NEW free version of Ewido trojan scanner:
[*]When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
[*]When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
[*]From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
[*]After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
[*]Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run.
[*]If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. We have been finding some cases of false positives with the new version of Ewido, so we need to step through the fixes one-by-one. If Ewido finds something that you KNOW is legitimate (for example, parts of AVG Antivirus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk" have been flagged), select "none" as the action. DO NOT check "Perform action with all infections". If you are unsure of an entry, select "none" for the time being. I'll see that in the log you will post later and let you know if ewido needs to be run again.
[*]When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again.

Post the log Ewido makes back here please.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

    Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

    * The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
    * Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
    * Now click on Scan Settings
    * In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    - Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    o Scan Options:
    - Scan Archives
    - Scan Mail Bases
    * Click OK
    * Now under select a target to scan:
    o Select My Computer
    * This program will start and scan your system.
    * The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
    * Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
o Now click on the Save as Text button:
    * Save the file to your desktop.
    * Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Neal, Thanks for helping - Ewido wouldnt let me save a scan and also "update@ewido.net" didnt register when I tried. When I tried the online scan the connection shut down. (This has shut down twice already). Is there an emergency mode I can use? Cant see through this....!

Hi Neal bit of a story here......- I managed to run Ewido but it wouldn't let me save a log file. It ID'd some stuff so I got rid of it and the next time I ran Ewido it allowed me to save - not much of a story now though:

    + Scan result:

    ::Report End

I managed to manually download all the Kaspersky stuff and ran a scan:

Then I got your note about running the TCP Repair Utility - which I have done prior to sending this note (I've not run Ewido nor Kaspersky again since - in case this is important)
Since running the utlity my security software advised me that ccApp.exe was trying to access the 'net so I blocked it.

Awaiting your comments - and thanks again

What note? You mean the post that I posted about winsockfix?

    Empty your Norton qurantine and...

Run Spybot and adaware from safe mode. Don't need to see those logs.

    Safe Mode explained:

Now reboot into safe mode by tapping your F8 key upon restart and safe mode screen appears, select safe mode and press enter.

    Reboot normal mode

    Open Hijackthis.

Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.

Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.

    Click the "Save list..." Button.

Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

And a new hijackthis log please.

    Those two logs look good.

    How is it running now?

Let's try and do an online scan, take your pick:

    Internet Explorer required
On the left hand side of site is the online scan button
    http://www.bitdefender.com/

    www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

    Internet Explorer Required
Please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

    * Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
    * A new window will open...click the Check Now button
    - Enter your Country
    - Enter your State/Province
    - Enter your e-mail address and click send(*NOTE it's perfectly safe to do so..You will NOT be spammed from this)
    - Select either Home User or Company
    * Click the big Scan Now button
    * If/when you get a notice that Panda wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
    * It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
    * When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
    * When the scan completes, if anything is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location like your desktop and post it back here please and a new hijackthis log as well. Thanks.

    Internet Explorer required
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

BitDefender and Panda will make a log if anything is found please post that if you can.

No - connection is still shutting down.
I ran the first one - "bitdefender" and it came back clear. Do you think this may be a hardware fault? I'm running BT Broadband with their modem. the modem icon flashes Green normally but when the connection drops it flashes yellow and gives a message "Training" when I hover the cursor over it. I cant re-connect until it starts flashing green again.
Thanks for all the help so far
