That is your call. A lack of critical updates is one of you main problems now and you probably won't fair much better if you fail to apply those updates in any reinstall. Is there a practical reason (dialup issues or unofficial copy of WinXP) why you won't or can't apply those critcal updates?





Ewido only found mostly low risk cookies. Your last two (2) scans continue to find evidence
of the GoldSpy infection. Try deleting the following files again:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\extfpu.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\fpuext.sys




Re-run the scans that found those infections.

Try to address all remaining issues from post #6 - hidden MSCONFIG items and all critical updates (except for SP2). Otherwise, we are just spinning our tires, here.
