    Welcome to DAL,

    Are you in the UK?

Are you in Marina Del Ray California

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{35904D69-CB9A-42E2-9B96-E48E53F34946}: NameServer = 192.168.0.1---Marina Del Ray
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{4E412D7A-92AD-4E13-90C8-BFAC6A81B2F5}: NameServer = 62.24.128.17 62.24.128.18----UK

Go into add/remove program and remove:(IF FOUND)

    Spy-Ad Exterminator Pro---bogus program
    myway

    Reboot

Please disable AdWatch, as it may hinder the removal of some entries. You can re-enable it after you're clean.
    To disable AdWatch:

    Open AdAware SE.
    Go to AdWatch User Interface.
    Go to Tools and Preferences.
At the bottom of the screen you will see 2 options Active and Automatic.
Active: This will turn Ad-Watch On\Off without closing it
Automatic: Suspicious activity will be blocked automatically
Uncheck both options. You can enable these after resolving your problem.

Go here to learn how to show hidden files/folders:

    http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html#5/Rehide after we are done

Download Clean.bat to your desktop(Save page as or Save as): for later use to clean out your TEMPORARY and PREFETCH files.
    http://www.thatcomputerguy.us/downloads/clean.bat

Scan with HJT again and put a check next to these items, making sure all browser windows are closed includeing this one so print this or create a new text document on desktop by right clicking an open area select new text document and save it to what ever you like. Now put a check next to these:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.dell.co.uk/myway

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Spy-Ad Realtime Monitor] "C:\Program Files\Oreware.com\Spy-Ad Exterminator Pro\AdMonStartup.exe" -t 10000

    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)

    O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} - http://software-dl.real.com/2703ff2...ip/RdxIE601.cab

Again make sure all browser windows are closed and click FIX

Now reboot into safe mode by tapping your F8 key upon restart and safe mode screen appears, select safe mode and press enter.

Hunt for and delete if present:

    C:\Program Files\Oreware.com\Spy-Ad Exterminator Pro < folder
    C:\Program Files\myway < folder

Now run that clean batch file you created earlier, type in 'Y' a couple of times and press enter at the prompts.

    Then:

Go to Start > Run and type: CLEANMGR.EXE and hit enter.
When prompted select the C: drive and click ok.
    Check the boxes for:
    Temporary Internet Files
    Downloaded Program Files
    Recycle Bin
    Temporary Files
    Click OK or Enter

    Reboot

Make sure you are set to normal startup. Click Start -> Run -> Type Msconfig -> Press Enter -> make sure Startup is set to Normal Start

Post a new HJT log for further review

    Hi,

I wouldn't worry about that, I was confused by that also but VOPTHIS explained it to me.

Your log is clean, let's do a Panda scan and see what turns up.

    www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

Please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

    * Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
    * A new window will open...click the Check Now button
    - Enter your Country
    - Enter your State/Province
    - Enter your e-mail address and click send(*NOTE it's perfectly safe to do so..You will NOT be spammed from this)
    - Select either Home User or Company
    * Click the big Scan Now button
    * If/when you get a notice that Panda wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
    * It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
    * When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
    * When the scan completes, if anything is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location like your desktop and post it back here please.

Glad that the log is clear.

Ran active scan and found the following:

    Incident Spyware:Cookie/Xmts
    Status Not disinfected
    Location C:\Documents and Settings\Dj\Cookies\dj@xmt1].txt

Have been having intermittant shut down of the IE windows when selecting progessive windows in a forum or sometimes when sellecting a search result in Google etc.
Have posted in IE forum and Jephree asked me to clean in this forum before going further.

I'm not now experiencing closedowns so fingers crossed the what-ever-it-was has been removed.

I'll repport the fault cleared to Jephree.

Just one thing before finishing there are 26 files named like this $NtUninstallKB873339$ in the Windows directory. I believe that they are MS uninstall info for updates. Can they be removed without affecting anything too drastically?

I would not mess with those myself and you are correct.

I've seen those show up a lot of times on other scans on other forums and they are never removed.
