Hi, after leaving town for a week and coming back to my main comp having been infected with god knows what, i am loosing my mind here. When you boot the system and the main windows GUI opens up its ok for around 10-20 seconds, then everything slows down to a crawl and my symantec (as well as avg since i tried to install it) is disabled. all file associations pointing towards .dat file shave been changed to nero showtime files. I have ran spybot and ad aware, they don't detect anything and whatever this is it's disabled my main antivirus software (symantec). Here is my HijackThis log, any help here would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance

p.s. i tried uninstalling the Nero Suite but the system is still associating .dat files with nero showtime

There are no apparent issues in your HJT log.



A .DAT file should NOT have a default file association (definitely not NERO) - otherwise, such DAT files will not be available for loading by Norton.



How do I change the file association on my .DOC, .XLS or Graphic files?

1. Find a file of the file type you want to change association on
2. Click the file ONE TIME so it highlights
3. Hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard
4. Click the file with the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON
5. Now select Open With...
6. Select the application you want to open this file type with for now on
7. Check the box Always use this program to open this type of file
8. Click OK

Uncheck: 'Always use this program to open this type of file' (if NERO is selected).
