    Welcome to DAL,

That adam.com are you familiar with that or something you want?

Did you install a program called Camera Detector:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Camera Detector] C:\PROGRA~1\ACDSYS~1\DEVDET~1\DEVDET~1.EXE -autorun

This is an excellent program but may hinder some fixes
    Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
    Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

First we need to move HJT into its own folder:
Please put your HJT in a folder such as C:\HJT or C:\Program Files\HJT. Copy or drag-and-drop the HijackThis program to the newly created folder. Then make or alter the shortcut to the HJT program.

Go into add/remove program and remove:(IF FOUND)

    AdwareAlert---bad program

Reboot if it was found and removed.

Go here to learn how to show hidden files/folders:

    http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html#5

Download Clean.bat to your desktop(Save page as or Save as): for later use to clean out your TEMPORARY and PREFETCH files.
    http://www.thatcomputerguy.us/downloads/clean.bat

Scan with HJT again and put a check next to these items, making sure all browser windows are closed includeing this one so print this or create a new text document on desktop by right clicking an open area select new text document and save it to what ever you like. Now put a check next to these:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Sexy_Blondes_au] C:\Program Files\Sym\Dialers\Sexy_Blondes_au\Sexy_Blondes_au. exe /dontdial
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ms1src] c:\program files\common files\system\ms1src.exe /install
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AdwareAlert] C:\Program Files\AdwareAlert\AdwareAlert.Exe -boot

Again make sure all browser windows are closed and click FIX

Now reboot into safe mode by tapping your F8 key upon restart and safe mode screen appears, select safe mode and press enter.

Hunt for and delete if present:

    C:\Program Files\Sym---folder
    c:\program files\common files\system < folder
    C:\Program Files\AdwareAlert < folder

Now run that clean batch file you created earlier, type in 'Y' a couple of times and press enter at the prompts.

    Then:

Go to Start > Run and type: CLEANMGR.EXE and hit enter.
When prompted select the C: drive and click ok.
    Check the boxes for:
    Temporary Internet Files
    Downloaded Program Files
    Recycle Bin
    Temporary Files
    Click OK or Enter

    Reboot

Make sure you are set to normal startup. Click Start -> Run -> Type Msconfig -> Press Enter -> make sure Startup is set to Normal Start

Post a new HJT log for further review

    Hello all,

I just posted a new log file in a previous message for review and decided to run ewido. It found spyware.cookie.statcounter. Could someone please tell me what this is? I am wondering when these spyware / virus problems are going to stop and whether it's because i do not have adequate protection.

    Sincerely

    Hi Neal,

The camera detector I presume was installed as part of setup disks for my digital camera. Regarding Panda, it said the browser I use (Mozilla firefox) dosen't support it. I tried to download Internet Explorer off the microsoft website, but a message popped up when I tried to execute setup files off my desktop informing me I already had a later version of IE on my computer. I then went into programs and selected Internet Explorer and the home page of my Internet Provider "Adam Internet" popped up which may answer your other question. I'll quite happily use IE if necessary, so if it's not too much trouble perhaps you could provide me with advice. In light of all this, I therefore haven't been able to scan with Panda as requested.

    Kind Regards

Yes internet explorer is required, my fault for not stating that.

If you see fit scan with Panda useing IE.

If your satisfied all is well then that is your choice not to scan with Panda

    Let me know either way.

If you think your good to go i have some free programs for you to try.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
Okey Dokey then, thanks for stopping by and here you go.

If you are no longer having any more trouble here is some preventative measures for you.

Here are some preventive measures you can take to keep your computer from getting infected again. also keep all these and Ad-awareSE and SpybotS&D updated.

    http://forums.thatcomputerguy.us/ind...showtopic=1190

Flush your restore points in ME and XP, by turning System Restore off and then back on.
This will create a fresh restore point.

    Explained here:
