    Re: Hijack This

hmmm, never had a problem useing counterspy before. Actually I usually have the user to scan computer and remove what it finds as a last part of cleaning before sending them on there way, sometimes right off to bat.

All that is left over registry clutter anyway and I never suggest going into registry unless a expert at doing that and I am not one of those, still in the learning process for that.

If you want you can run a tool called kazzabegone and that should clear some of that up.

Here it is if you want.

info: be sure and read the warning!!!/scroll to bottom of page
    http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html
Download LSP fix, but don''t do anything with it. Just heed the above warning. If your net connection is ok after the kazza begone is run you can delete it.
if you lose your internet connection after running kazzabegone run LSP tool and click "finish then reboot" and net connection will be back

    download:
    http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/f...azaabegone.zip
    or here:

    http://www.snapfiles.com/php/download.php?id=106746

Remember: Do not run kazzabegone until you have LSPfix downloaded first

Hi, i have run that kazaabegone tool and it did reduce the number of infected registry entries (see attachment) on my computer - thanks.

(I also didnt lose my internet connection after running that tool.)

Im not sure what is wrong with counterspy on my computer - strange.

So is what is left relatively harmless?

Btw a big thankyou to you for helping me with my computer. I really appreciate your time and the help you have given to me.

I thought i would add that i still have the orginal problem that lead me to post in this forum.

I still get a pop-up message saying, windows explorer has encounted a problem, when i go into the folder of a certain file i have just downloaded and unzipped. I had a look at the error report and im not sure if this means anything to you but this was in that report:

    AppName: explorer.exe
    AppVer:6.0.2900.2180
    ModName: xvid.dll
    offset:00047cde

Its not an important download or anything, but it is a legal download so it shouldnt be happening. I have also found that others can open this file so the file cant be corrupt.
