My Hijack log - Cheers(RESOLVED)
Hi everyone. hope this is in the correct section.
I'm ok with computers, but not brilliant,so bear with me
Being paranoid,i delete my files/cookies/history often.
I was on the net today and on some sites ( nowt naughty,it's the family pc! ) i was getting loads of them damn popups
Anyway, i had this disk from an old issue of 'easy PC' which i installed and it stopped the popups.Great!
So i found another disk, which was a 'BlackICE Defender' stop hackers thingy and installed it. I checked it later on and i had a list of hackers, with IP addys and all. I was suprised how many there were/are.Seems like loads of scummy hackers are bombarding my pc every minute or so.
Is this normal?!! Any help muchly appreciated. Dave.
p.s, I can print a screen view...but don't know how to attach it..

Welcome to DAL.
Go here:
http://www.d-a-l.com/help/showthread.php?t=32403
Do as much as possible there and post back with a Hijackthis log please.
-
Thanks for that Neil,
Thats a very clear and informative list you've got there. I'll trawl through it and hopefully cure my ailing pc..it's been getting slower since my mcafee expired.I know - Doh!
-
Thanks for that info neal,
my pc seems a lot fitter after going through your list. here's where i am so far:
First i deleted my out of date McAfee,Aladdin pop-up and black ice hacker programs. Then, first off, i installed the free AVG anti-virus from http://free.grisoft.com/doc/Get+AVG+FREE/lng/us/tpl/v5. This showed no infected files - nice!
Then i d/loaded Ad-Aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/ This found 25 bugs - ( 13 tracking cookies, 10 alexa/alexia? things, and 2 TROJANS !! )
I also d/loaded the VX 2 add on,but this reported all clean.
Next i d/loaded Spybot S&D from http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/. This found 22 sneaky little fellows.
Well they're all deleted into cyberspace now, lol.
I also d/loaded the 'Hijack this log' program, which i run and got a copy in notepad, but this was after i'd been messing with my pc for a while,so the log shows lots of , erm, words+numbers ( to me anyway,to someone else it might make sense!)
Should i clear my files/cookies/history etc, and THEN do a hijack log?
Thanks again.
-
Post the hijackthis log, it looks like that.
Good job on the other stuff.

Thanks for the log, i merged the two threads you started together.
Your log is clean but we ought to run at least one online scan with panda just to be sure. panda will make a log of anything it finds. Please post that back here for us to look at. Thanks.

Sorry it took so long, that panda scan is thorough with a capital T! Took ages and found 14 'incidents', which it didn't disinfect...
Also it asked for a profile, so i just left it like it was,( outlook ). Here's the log

p.s, has this copied ok? Looks untidy to me!

Ok, not as bad as it looks, let's deal with the worst first.
You may want to print out or make a copy of these instructions before starting, because you will not be able to connect to the internet during most of this fix.
Download smitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.
Please download, install, and update the free version of Ewido Security Suite:- When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
- When you run Ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
- From the main Ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
- After the update finishes, the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"
- Exit Ewido. DO NOT run a scan yet.
If you do not already have Ad-Aware SE 1.06 installed, follow these download and setup instructions. Also check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Again, do NOT run a scan yet.
Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:- Restart your computer
- After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
- Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
- Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen. Your desktop and icons will disappear and then reappear again --- this is normal.
Wait for the tool to complete and Disk Cleanup to finish --- this may take a while; please be patient.
Next, run Ad-aware and perform a full scan. Remove everything found.
Now open Ewido Security Suite- Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on the Start button. This scan can take quite a while to run, so time to go get a drink and a snack....
- If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
- When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Save that file for us later.
- Close Ewido
Next go to Start -> Control Panel, click Display -> Desktop -> Customize Desktop -> Web -> Uncheck "Security Info" if present.
Finally, restart your computer once more, and please post a new HijackThis log as well as the log from the Ewido scan and the log from the smitRem tool, which will be located at C:\smitfiles.txt.
Let us know if any problems persist.
