    Exclamation Runtime problems

    Hi,

I'm getting errors with both Explorer and Internet Explorer where I get messages saying that Runtime has been asked to terminate the - uninstalling the Google toolbar - hasn't helped. I've cleaned up using both SpyBot and Ad-Aware and then obtained the following Hijack Log. Other clues - I did upgrade WinXP to SP2 and install McAfee Internet Security Suite yesterday, subsequently uninstalling McAfee Privacy Service (too painful to bear).

Any help & suggestions much appreciated.

    Hi and welcome to DAL,

This very well could not be virus related, we shall soon see.

Please download Webroot SpySweeper from here: SpySweeper

Click the Free Trial link under to "SpySweeper" to download the program.
    Install it.
Once the program is installed, it will open.
It will prompt you to update to the latest definitions, click Yes.
Once the definitions are installed, click Sweep Now on the left side.
    Click the Start button.
When it's done scanning, click the Next button.
Make sure everything has a check next to it, then click the Next button.
It will remove all of the items found.
Click Session Log in the upper right corner, copy everything in that window.
Click the Summary tab and click Finish.

Paste the contents of the session log you copied into your next reply.

Forgive me for intruding, as I am not an expert in HJT.

However I have seen many posts in other forums about this Runtime error problem, where the usual fix (uninstalling Google toolbar) does not work. It seems that while this IE extension is the commonest culprit, it is not the only one. And I noticed that the original poster's logfile indicated he had McApfBHO.dll, indicating the presence of McAfee's Anti-Phishing BHO. I am aware of at least one who solved this problem by eliminating this BHO.
