    HijackThis Log : SPYAXE problem(RESOLVED)

I recently turned on my comp to find SPYAXE along with alot of other junk on my comp,
ad-aware, spybot s&d all seem to find different stuff but fail to get rid of them, and norton anti-virus no longer opens.
    Any help would be appreciated

    Look in Add/remove Programs (in the Control Panel) and remove, if found;

    SurfAccuracy
    windupdates

You may want to print out or make a copy of these instructions before starting, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet during most of this fix.

    Fix SmitFraud
Download smitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Please download, install, and update the free version of Ewido Security Suite:
    1. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
    2. When you run Ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
    3. From the main Ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
    4. After the update finishes, the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"
    5. Exit Ewido. DO NOT run a scan yet.

If you do not already have Ad-Aware SE 1.06 installed, follow these download and setup instructions. Also check for updates:
    Ad-Aware SE Setup
Again, DO NOT run a scan yet.

ENABLE viewing of HIDDEN FILES: Go here to learn how to show hidden files/folders:
    http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html#5

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
    1. Restart your computer
    2. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
    3. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
    4. Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Scan with HijackThis again and place a check next to these items:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

    O2 - BHO: HomepageBHO - {724510c3-f3c8-4fb7-879a-d99f29008a2f} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp627C.tmp

Close all other windows except HijackThis, and hit Fix Checked

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen. Your desktop and icons will disappear and then reappear again --- this is normal.
Wait for the tool to complete and Disk Cleanup to finish --- this may take a while; please be patient.

Next, run Ad-aware and perform a full scan. Remove everything found.

    Now open Ewido Security Suite
    • Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on the Start button. This scan can take quite a while to run, so time to go get a drink and a snack....
    • If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
    • When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Save that file for us later.
    • Close Ewido
Next go to Start -> Control Panel, click Display -> Desktop -> Customize Desktop -> Web -> Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Locate (Start>Search) and delete these files, if still present:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp627C.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\cbjv5436.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\clb41598.exe

Restart your computer in normal mode.

Download SpyAxeFix.exe © noahdfear, and save it to your desktop.
    • Close all other programs and windows.
    • Double click SpyAxeFix.exe, then click Start to extract the tool to it's own folder.
    • Open the SpyAxeFix folder and double click the SpyAxeFix.bat to start the tool.
    • At one point when the tool runs, your taskbar will dissappear, and your computer will restart when the tool completes.
    • A text file named spyaxe.txt will be created in the SpyAxeFix folder.
    • Post the contents of that log please in your next response.

Run the Panda online virus scan at http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm
    1. Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
    2. A new window will open...click the Check Now button
    3. Enter your Country
    4. Enter your State/Province
    5. Enter your e-mail address and click send
    6. Select either Home User or Company
    7. Click the big Scan Now button
    8. If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
    9. It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
    10. When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
    11. When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.

Finally, restart your computer once more, and please post:
    1. a new HijackThis log
    2. a smitRem log created in the tool smitRem Directory – smitfiles.txt
    3. the SpyAxe log created in the SpyAxeFix folder - spyaxe.txt
    4. the Ewido log
    5. the Panda log

Let us know if any problems persist.

    Excellent results.

Read over the following directions. Ask if anything appears unclear to you.

Download Clean.bat to your desktop: for later use to clean out your TEMPORARY and PREFETCH files.
    http://www.thatcomputerguy.us/downloads/clean.bat

We will be restarting into Safe Mode later on in the fix and you might not be able to access the Internet. Accordingly, it is probably a good idea to print out the following directions or copy them to a text file on your desktop using NOTEPAD. Read these instructions carefully and feel free to ask if you're unsure about anything.

SELECT HijackThis FIX ITEMS: Scan with HijackThis and place a check next to these items:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SURFACCURACY] C:\Program Files\SurfAccuracy\SAcc.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CBJV5436] C:\WINDOWS\system32\cbjv5436.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [250F5D708AAB] C:\WINDOWS\system32\clb41598.exe

Make sure that all browser windows and internet links are closed, even this one!
    CLICK ’FIX CHECKED’ with HijackThis.

HIDDEN FILES: To make sure you can see all hidden files, please follow the directions here

SAFEMODE: Boot into safe mode by tapping the F8 key at restart and choosing 'safe mode' menu option (explained here if needed).

Delete TEMPORARY FILES: Now, hunt down the most common temporary file locations and the temporary file clutter contained therein (and of possible malware hiding places):

Go to Start > Run and type: CLEANMGR.EXE and hit enter.
When prompted select the C: drive and click ok.
    Check the boxes for:
    • Temporary Internet Files
    • Downloaded Program Files
    • Recycle Bin
    • Temporary Files
    Click OK or Enter

For additional, more thorough cleaning and for multi-profile user configurations:
(*) Run Clean.bat to clean up your TEMPorary files.

***** Clean out the Recycle Bin for items removed below, ONLY once you have regained the full functional use of your PC.

Navigate to these files or folders using Windows Explorer (OR Start -> Search) and delete (if present):

    DELETE FILES:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CBJV5436] C:\WINDOWS\system32\cbjv5436.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [250F5D708AAB] C:\WINDOWS\system32\clb41598.exe

    C:\Documents andSettings\Aparo\Favorites\AntivirusTestOnline.ur l
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Searchx.htm

    DELETE APPLICATION FOLDERS
    1. Go to Add/Remove Programs
    1. In Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs look for any related entries for unwanted items listed below (or anything else you need to investigate or did not put in there).

    2. UNINSTALLER Alternate SEARCH: Otherwise, advisable to locate and try right-clicking on any of the given SEARCH FOLDER items below and further search (tick include subdirectories) for the following exact text:

      UN*.EXE, *UN*.EXE

This may reveal an uninstaller with label terms such as '...uninstall...EXE', ‘unins000’, or 'unwise.EXE'. Double-click that EXE, if one is found. Thereafter, check to ensure that the folder is completely gone. Otherwise, consider deleting the folder in question.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
    Nice work!

You can/should also fix the following item in HJT:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

To help avoid serious infection again, please look carefully at this post for some excellent preventative measures. Prevention must be made the first line of defense to improve upon.

As a final cleanup step, it is often advisable to Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove any bad files that may have been backed up by Windows . The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing them. And, this is the only complete way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which could likely be infected, anyway.)

PLEASE NOTE: you will need to log into your computer with an account that has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

    (Windows XP)
    To Turn OFF System Restore.
    1. Click the Start button.
    2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
    3. On the System Restore tab, check Turn off System Restore or Turn off System Restore on all drives.
    4. Click Apply.

    To Turn ON System Restore.
    1. Follow the steps in the previous section, but in step 3, uncheck Turn off System Restore or Turn off System Restore on all drives. Then click OK.
    2. Create new System Restore points.

    (Windows ME)
See the following link for instructions:
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...rc=sec_doc_nam

To reduce the re-infection potential for malware and protect your PC against spyware, here are a few helpful suggestions:
    1. Keep Windows and Internet Explorer current with the latest critical security updates from Microsoft . This will patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer . You CANNOT complete this update using an alternate browser – you must use Internet Explorer.
      http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v5co...t.aspx?ln=en-us
      http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.asp

    2. Run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep its definitions up-to-date. If you are thinking about switching, there are a some good free Antivirus programs that are decent, including AVG and Avast!.
      AVG: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
      Avast: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

    3. In addition to using Ad-aware consider using another free malware scanning/removal program :
      Adaware SE: http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Person...ubj=dl&tag=top5
      Spybot S&D: http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Dest...tml?tag=lst-0-1
      MS Antispyware beta: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/s...re/default.mspx

    4. Consider using a free firewall if you are not already using one. Some good free ones are:
      Sygate: http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm
      Zone Alarm: http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/comp...n.jsp?lid=ho_za

It is not a bad idea to also consider using a Router/Hardware firewall device where you have a high-speed Internet access connection. A software firewall may occasionally need to be disabled or it gets/remains disabled by someone or something. Such an added layer of security consistency has a lot of merit to it.

    5. Consider using an alternate free browser for general web surfing but you must use IE for windows updates.
      Mozilla Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

    6. Consider increasing your browser security by using these programs:
SpywareGuard will help protect your homepage from being hijacked: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html
SpywareBlaster will increase browser protection by blocking access to thousands of known malware sites by adding them to IE's restricted sites zone. It essentially blocks known- bad ActiveX program items from being installed or running on your computer. Download it here: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
    7. A HOSTS file can block Internet access to thousands of known-bad sites by not allowing you any easy browser access to such sites knowingly or unknowingly. Use HJT to determine if a current HOSTS file exists and any contents therein:
      • Run the HiJackThis tool and select ‘Open the Misc Tools section’.
      • Next select ‘Open host file manager’ button.
      • Use the ‘Open in Notepad’ button in XP/W2K or use WORDPAD if necessary [type wordpad.exe in the RUN box (Start>Run)] and load the FILE PATH identified in HJT.
      • Go to http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.txt . # Read the initial instructions #. Copy and paste (append or replace) the RELEVANT host address entry contents of that file into Notepad or Wordpad and save the updated file contents.

    • Keep all of these programs up-to-date, and
    • Use them on a regular basis.
