The provided links pretty much lay out the little that is known about your stated issue and any other general issues associated with KB891711.EXE.

What did you learn and what intervention did you take, if any, as a result? Clues to your issues resolution likely can be found in those discussion points.

I tried the link as you suggested. I couldn't find anything similar to the problem I have.

My pc works fine until I try to log-off or Shut Down.

I then get An error has occured error 0E:0177:BFF8E64B.
Hit a key to continue which results in Kb891711 Kb891711 caused an invalid page fault in Kerel32.dll at 0177:BFF8E64B.

Apart from this the pc works fine with Windows ME. It boots okay, doesn't freeze etc.

I have AVG, Ad-Aware and Spybot which I use regularly. I mainly use Mozilla although I occassionally use IE.

I have disabled System Restore. I have carried out the free scans with:
PC Rescue, PConPoint, PCRescue, noadware, pc doc pro 3.5, PC Mighty Max (1049 problems found) and CWshredder.
All have found errors but I don't know which one to subscribe to - any recommendations?

I have never had a problem before and I'm lost for what to do.

    Run the following anti-virus/malware tools:

    Get the stinger here:
    http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

Download it to another computer if need be, and bring it to the affected computer on floppy disk.

It will kill the top 40 virus files if any are found there

    Then,

Run these two online virus/malware scanners using Internet Explorer (Panda Activescan, Trendmicro Housecall) following these instructions below:
    http://forums.thatcomputerguy.us/ind...showtopic=5122

Let them fix what they can. Reboot between scans.

Take note of any FILES that couldn't be deleted. Post any undeletable items and any available LOGS back here (IMPORTANT FEEDBACK) AND go after such FILES yourself if you want (preferably in SAFE MODE - reboot tapping the F8 key) .

These scans will take more than an hour to complete, so make sure you have time to let them run all the way through.
(let us know if any files couldn't be deleted/cleaned.)

    Reboot
Post a new HJT log with any detailed feedback from the scans.
