Hi jack log as requested and will now create new file for hi jack this
As a matter of interest I have been amazed at the spy w are etc that your reccomendations have revealed.I have Ad Aware,Spybot,Microsoft anti spyware,Spyblaster and Zone Alarm proffesional which also scans for spyware.I have Nod32 which operates a heuristic element as my anti vrus so had considered ny computer to be pretty secure.I regularly up date and run all my security as well.
Many thanks and look forward to your next reply.

Please re scan with Ewido that part you posted doesn't make any since at all. Don't know what: do.do.do means, do you? Scan from safe mode please.

    Safe mode explained:

Reboot into safe mode by tapping your F8 key upon restart and safe mode screen appears, select safe mode and press enter.

Make sure you can see hidden files/folders
    In Windows XP
    Click Start.
    Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    Select the View Tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    Click Yes to confirm.
    Click OK.
After you're cleaned, please "rehide" them again.

Go into add/remove program and remove:(IF FOUND)

    clearsearch
    betterinet
    SAHAgent/shopathomeAgent

Delete as many of these you can find please: From safe mode please.

    Spyware:spyware/clearsearch No disinfected C:\WINDOWS\system32\IETie.dll
    Spyware:spyware/clearsearch No disinfected C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\IETie.dll
    Spyware:spyware/betterinet No disinfected C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\in8bC.dll
    Adware:Adware/SAHAgent No disinfected C:\WINDOWS\inf\biC.inf
    Spyware:Spyware/BetterInet No disinfected C:\WINDOWS\inf\biini.inf

Reboot normal mode and post a new HJT log please. Thanks.

Sorry about this but when I posted the original I got a message that I wasn't logged in and it dissapeared into the ether.Hope this is now OK.
Will carry out a further Hi-jack this scan and post latter today.

Sorry the -do-is an abreviation for ditto(The same as above plus any diference typed at the end)My fault for being lazy and not typing each one in full.
Have received your further instructions and will carry them out today and report.

I have done as suggested in that I started computer in Safe Mode and scanned with ewido which found two versions of Spyware Chitika and removed them.
However the only add/remove programmes on my computer just shows the applications I have and did not show any clearsearch,betterinett,SATAgent/Shopat home agent.
Nor could I find the other spyware you suggested that I remove in safe mode. This may all be a little advanced for me although I have managed to carry out your instruction up to now with only one or two small hic ups.
I did re set hidden files and protected operating system files as you suggested.
I tried to find the spyware by using Start/Search and typing in the name of the files without success.
Perhaps you could guide me through this step by step and give clear instructions as to how to find them.
Incidentally my Zone Alarm professional did an automatic spyware scan when I booted up and found nothing.
In the circumsatnces I haven't done a further HJS scan as I haven't been able to complete the preparation.
Many thanks for your patience and hopefully we will be able to complete this excercise.

    As requested Hjthis log.
My Zone alarm is the latst Zone Alarm pro., paid for version.Could this be part of the problem? Also in my first Ewido scan which unfortunately I failed to post on the site found and removed 7 items.I have scanned three times since and each time it has found Chitika spyware which it has removed although at th enext scan Chitika spware appears again.
The last time there were two as follows:-
    C:\Documents & Settings\User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\A5WFY1I3\mm[1].js->Spware Chitika:
    C:\Documents&Settings\User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\UTWOL0Q1\mm[1].js->Spyware Chitika:
I am a little surprised these are there since I have "private IE" set to remove temporary internet files. Are they what are found and described as lowlevel threats by Ad Aware?
Again many thanks for your patience.

I have seen zonealarm cause many problems mainly conflicting with certain anti-virus programs and causeing slow down can't say so for sure on this case. Might try turning it off.

I have seen webshots cause slow down also.

Your private IE has missing files so may not be functioning properly, might uninstall and re-install, if you want to uninstall we can fix some entries with HJT.

Also if you are running 2 anti-virus programs Nod32 and Symantic uninstall one of them this will definately cause slow down.

Let's disable this for now during this next fix please
    Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
    Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

    Download CCleaner from here:
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4191.html
    or here:
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner.html

don't run the tool just yet please.
Install it. The windows tab should be opened in the upper left of the program. Click analyze and then click run cleaner. Just use the windows tab that is up front by default.

    1.Uncheck "Cookies" under "Internet Explorer".

2.If you are running Firefox: ,then click on the "Applications" tab and uncheck "Cookies" under "Firefox".

    Next

don't run this tool just yet please
Please download Webroot SpySweeper from here: SpySweeper

Click the Free Trial link under to "SpySweeper" to download the program.
    Install it.
Once the program is installed, it will open.
It will prompt you to update to the latest definitions, click Yes.
Once the definitions are installed, click Sweep Now on the left side.
    Click the Start button.
When it's done scanning, click the Next button.
Make sure everything has a check next to it, then click the Next button.
It will remove all of the items found.
Click Session Log in the upper right corner, copy everything in that window.
Click the Summary tab and click Finish.

Paste the contents of the session log you copied into your next reply.

Scan with HJT again and put a check next to these items, making sure all browser windows are closed includeing this one so print this or create a new text document on desktop by right clicking an open area select new text document and save it to what ever you like. Now put a check next to these:

    Hunt for and delete:if found

    Run CCleaner

Run Spysweeper and save and post the log it makes

Search for and delete ALL FOLDER occurrences of Content.ie5 to clean up all 'Temporary Internet Files' content.

Reboot normal mode and post a new HJT log please.

Thanks for reply. Will work through this.My first move was to check on the Symantec connection which I was surprised could be involved as I thought that I had removed this a long time ago. However it is still there and shows as Symantec anti virus scanner. When I asked to remove this I got the message that it was a shared file in use by other programmes and could not be removed without shutting down some prgrammes and trying again. This was beyond my skills.I have always known that it was not a good thing to have more than one anti virus and thought that I hadalays made sure that this didn't happen.
Tommorrow I will carry out your other instructions but thought you should know what had happenned with the Symantec(norton).

Have carried out most of your instructions.
I didn't post spysweeper log as it only found one item which was directrevenue-abetterinet.
Although it did list six phone serv items when analysing and deleted them.
I carried out A High Jack this scan and deleted the items you listed.
In safe mode I then ran CCleaner which removed a number of temp files etc.
I didn't run spysweeper again since it told me that the scan would take nearly three hours and I didn't have the time but will run this if you really think it is necessary.
I am still rather concerned that there are remnants of an old Norton programme on my computer which I have been unable to remove as I get the message that they are shared files and windows is unable to delete them.Could this be in conflict with my Nod 32?

Can I again thank you for your patience and the extent of your help.My computer is booting up a little faster. As a sole user I have it set to automitically connect to the Internet and to open at the Yahoo log in page.It now gets to this point in 1 minute 20 seconds.
I am a relative novice and have to date been able to follow most of your instructions.
    Thanks

That entry is not normally a problem. You may have to temporarily disable your AV tool in some cases to do that online scan. It is an on-demand (online) security scanner:

Have you tried fixing the above HJT item if you wish that item to be removed (try in SAFE MODE if necessay).

Additionally, running both Microsoft Anti-Spyware and SpySweeper at the same time can cause potential conflicts and slowdowns since both do realtime monitoring:

    How to Disable SpySweeper
    1. Open it, Click Options over on the left, then Program options
    2. Uncheck load at windows startup.
    3. Over to the left, Click shields and Uncheck all there.
    4. Uncheck home page shield.
    5. Uncheck automatically restore default without notification.
    6. Exit Spysweeper.

    How to Disable Microsoft AntiSpyware
    1. Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
    2. Click on Tools, Settings.
    3. In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
    4. Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
    5. Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
    6. After you unchecked these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
    7. Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware Icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
