    Hi and welcome to DAL,

I'm not seeing anything in your HJT log.

Lets see what some virus scans can uncover and we will go from there.

    Get the stinger here:
    http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

Download it to another computer if need be, and bring it to the affected computer on floppy disk.

It will kill the top 53 virus files if any are found there

    then,

    Internet Explorer required
Run these two online virus scanners (Panda Activescan) following these instructions below:
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/product..._principal.htm

    Internet Explorer required
    Also this excellent(BitDefender) scanner:http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html

These scans will take an hour or two maybe longer in your case. Panda and Bitdefender online scanners will make logs of what was found if anything post both logs back here please so I can take a look please also include a new HJT log as well. Thanks.

Apparently this slow down is not virus/spyware related.

You may have some resource hogs on your computer.

Why don't you go over to the XP Help section of this forum and see if they can find some programs you have causeing the slow down.

    Go here:

    XP HELP

Well don't know what to tell you, I work only on virus-spyware issues.

We can do one more thing or two and run a couple of tools to see if anything is hidden.

unzip all the tools, right click> extract all

    1. Please download dllcompare (A scanner to locate hidden DLL files) from this locations:
    DLLCompare
    2. When you execute dllcompare.exe, by default the c:\windows\system32 is selected. This can be changed to scan you entire computer for any file type - Simply select the path and check off the box labelled "Include SubDirectories"
    3. Click on "Locate.com" and allow the scan to complete.
    4. After the scan has finished click on "Compare" to scan for the files that Windows does not see. This step will take a few minutes to run.
    5. If the box at the bottom of the screen contains any files, these are the ones that are hidden - Click on "Make a Log of what was Found".
    6. When prompted to "View Log File" click on "Yes".
    7. Notepad will open with the log file contents.
    8. In Notepad, click on "Edit" => "Select All" => "Edit" = "Copy" and post the contents as a reply to this message.

    Then:

    Download rkfiles

Go to http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip and download. Unzip it, we will use it in a bit.
[list=1][*] Extract (unzip) the files inside into their own folder called FindQoologic.[*] Open the FindQoologic folder.[*]Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat to run it.
The tool will open a DOS window and begin to check your system.
It will be completely finished when a text file will pop open in Notepad called "file.txt" (about 5 minutes).
Save this text file in the FindQoologic folder.
Close the DOS box after the text pops up on your screen.[*]Run rkfiles. A log will be saved at C:\log.txt[*] Locate the rkfiles log and the file.txt you saved.
Copy and paste the contents of both reports into your next post.

    * Download finditnt2000xp.zip
    * Unzip the contents of finditnt2000xp.zip to a convenient location on your active drive (usually C).
    * Navigate to the Find It NT-2K-XP folder and double-click on find.bat.
    * A command prompt will open and it will search your computer for malicious files.
    * Once it has finished (this can take a looooooooong time) a Notepad window will pop up with output.txt.
    * Copy the entire contents of output.txt into your next post.

Post those 3 logs please and it will tell us if anything is deeply hid on your computer.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
    Nothing.

One more then let you go.

    Download http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/winpfind.php

Extract WinPFind.zip to your c:\ folder.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode by tapping your F8 key upon restart and select safe mode and press enter

Then open c:\WinPFind and double-click on WinPFind.exe. When the program is open, click on the Start Scan button to scart scanning your computer. Be patient as this scan may take a while. When it is done, it will show a log and tell you the scan is completed. Reboot your computer back to normal mode and and post the contents of c:\WinPFind\WinPFind.txt as a reply to this topic.
