Shopping Wizard and search extender
Hi,
All help will be most appreciated. I have the dreaded shopping wizard problem, I see so many others do so too.
I have downloaded hijackthis and aboutbuster and adaware, here is my log file, I would like some expert help as I have spent so long getting my computer stable, I do not want to destroy it by having a go myself.
There is also a network connection that has appeared all of a sudden, It is always on too.
Many thanks for your help and support:

Yep you got a bad one alright.
Download these tools to get ready for the fix
1. Please download dllcompare (A scanner to locate hidden DLL files) from this locations:
DllCompare.exe
2. When you execute dllcompare.exe, by default the c:\windows\system32 is selected. This can be changed to scan you entire computer for any file type - Simply select the path and check off the box labelled "Include SubDirectories"
3. Click on "Locate.com" and allow the scan to complete.
4. After the scan has finished click on "Compare" to scan for the files that Windows does not see. This step will take a few minutes to run.
5. If the box at the bottom of the screen contains any files, these are the ones that are hidden - Click on "Make a Log of what was Found".
6. When prompted to "View Log File" click on "Yes".
7. Notepad will open with the log file contents.
8. In Notepad, click on "Edit" => "Select All" => "Edit" = "Copy" and post the contents as a reply to this message.
Next:
Make sure you can see hidden files.
In Windows XP
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.
After you're cleaned, please "rehide" them again.
Next:
Download the Intermute stand-alone version of CWShredder from here: cwshredder.net/bin/CWShredder.exe
Install it and check for updates then exit, we will use it later.
Next,
Please download CWShredder from here( this is the older version), then exit no run yet http://www.thatcomputerguy.us/downloads-cat4.html
Download About:Buster from here: This is the new version, follow instructions on setup about updates etc. in case this the version you have.
www.besttechie.net/tools/AboutBuster5.zip
Or here:
www.malwarebytes.biz/AboutBuster5.zip
Or here:
http://majorgeeks.com/download4289.html
Unzip it to its own DESKTOP folder, right click open area on the desktop, click new, the new folder, name the folder Aboutbuster . It is VITAL that it be unzipped.
Please open/run the program and check for updates. After you update it exit.
Do not run the actual scan/fix until instructed below.
Post a new HJT log in your next post.

Hi,
Thank you very much for your reply, I actually got a bit desparate and chose to do a few fixes myself, the problem seems to have gone away (just using spybot and spyware blaster etc several times over, except the hjt log still shows the world anti spy.exe bit, it is not in c:/program files though, not even hidden, also the dllcompare shows nothing in the bottom box. Anyway here is the log:

Thanks very much for your help, just need to get the world spy thing away as this was constantly downloading an exe to my computer without my permission.
-
Hi,
Go into add/remove and see if worldanti-spyware is there if there remove and reboot.
Download those CWShredders I posted about please.
Then:
Please download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Ewido trojan scanner: http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
1. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
2. When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
3. From the main ewido screen, click on UPDATE in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
4. After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful"), click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on the Start button. This scan can take quite a while to run.
5. If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
6. When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Please then paste the contents of the text file to this thread, along with a new HijackThis log.
Make sure you are set to normal startup. Click Start -> Run -> Type Msconfig -> Press Enter -> make sure Startup is set to Normal.
Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Hi,
I used ewido first and the log file is below showing two objects. I rebooted and rescanned and this time hooray nothing found. The hjt log is also below, I think my system is now completely clear, I removed the c
rogram files/worldantispy.exe folder and that has also gone, many many thanks for your efforts.

Let's see if we can rid rid of the rest of your troubles.
Scan with HJT and put a check next to these items:
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
O2 - BHO: Class - {38D49E75-22AD-792C-2E36-24F44A9A7E2D} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ipsg.dll
Make sure all windows are closed on taskbar, nothing open but HJT and click fix checked.
Now reboot into safe mode by tapping your F8 key upon restart and safe mode screen appears, select safe mode and press enter.
Run both of the CWShredders and click fix on both.
Then go find and delete this file:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ipsg.dll
Reboot and post hopefully one more HJT log before you go, I also will have some free preventative programs for you.
-
Hi,
I have only used one cwshredder, the link (the only one) you have given in the previous posts, it did not find anything suspicious, I rebooted in safe mode but could not find the ipsg.dll file, here is the hjt log, it looks like it has corrected the two lines I highlighted:

Thanks for your help, I have the following preventative programs already: spyware guard, spyware blaster, zonealarm security suite, ad-aware and spybot, please recommend others and tell me if the ones I have are any good.
Many thanks again for your efforts in getting my computer running again properly.

Hi,
There are two links there and I just clicked both and both work.
Your log is clean.
How is your computer running now?
If all is well we will say goodbye.
Your protection is outstanding and exactly what I have on my computer. Except for the firewall I use sygate.

Hi,
Computer is running fine, downloaded from the second link (didnt see it the first time round) scanned and found nothing. So that's a clean computer then, thanks for all your help, I have another computer which just runs slow (XP2400 sempron) for what it is, I'll try to post a hjt log here tomorrow else Monday, see what you think of that, if you dont mind. Thanks again.
