Never ending pop-ups
I can't seem to rid my PC of pop-ups.The same critical objects Ad-Aware finds and fixes, reappear within a few minutes. I run Ad-Aware daily and it identifies the exact same critical objects/ I ran Spybot this AM and it found and fixed shopathomeselect.com. I ran it again a few minutes ago and shopathomeselect.com was found again. I often get pop-ups at desktop. Can you help?

Hello,Calamus & Welcome
There should be an entry in the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs entry for 'ShopAtHomeSelect Agent'. Use it to remove the software then restart the computer.
You can delete the damaged '{30402FF4-3E71-4A1C-9B4B-1CD3486A9FB2}' entry inside the 'Downloaded Program Files' folder, the 'SAHUninstall.exe' file in the 'Windows' folder and 'SahAgent.log' in the root of the C: drive to clean up if you like.
If the entry for ShopAtHomeSelect remains in your Add/Remove Programs even though the software is uninstalled, you can get rid of it by opening the registry (Start->Run->regedit) and deleting the key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Uninstall\ShopAtHomeSelect Agent'.
NOTE: While your at it Uninstall/Remove from Add/Remove Programs
this item as well
BearShare
Then do this for us
We ask that you please have a look at these 2 links here first.

Shadow,
None of the ShopAtHomeSelect files/entries could be found on my PC. Not in the Add/Remove and even when I did a Windows Search for each of the entires you mentioned. Is it safe to assume that Spybot found and deleted them on the second try?
I did delete BearShare per your instructions.
However, I still have a persistent problem with pop-ups. I have DSL Modem and use MSN for IP and Browser. I never use IE. The pop-up blocker in MSN and IE are both set at the highest filter setting however about 50% of the time I open IE, I find the pop-up blocker has been turned off. I turn it back on, close IE and bet on with my business.
I run Spybot daily and and get the welcomed "Congrats" message. I run Ad-Aware several times a day, fix the problems which are always spyware cookies in the IE Cache, but the same ones return within a matter of minutes sometimes.
On occasion, I get pop-ups at desktop. ad.yieldmanager.com, mediafastclick.net, oinadserve.com,casalmedia.com are but a few, partypoker.com is another.
Any suggestions? Or is time to reformat the hard drive?
Thanks,
Calamus

After reading thread #15083, I checked my privacy settings and found the slide bar set on "low" so I it moved it to "medium high" setting. I also checked the "block 3rd party cookies" box and started blocking those cookie producing sites that Ad-Aware would identify. That has greatly reduced the number of critical objects being found by Ad-Aware, and the ones AA does find are new/different than the ones that would always reappear before. Hopefully, that means I am making some headway. Still very puzzling to me is how my IE Pop-up Blocker keeps getting turned off. After powering up the last two mornings, before running Ad-Aware and Spybot, I went to Internet Options and found Pop-up Blocker turned off.
Unfortunately for me, being on the lower end of the technological food chain, I don't always understand all I know about these wonderful machines.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Calamus

Hi,Calamus
Hmm the only thing i can think of about the pop-up blocker
is when you go there & turn it back on do you click on Apply
then ok????
try that see if it helps at all let us know.
