    Programs wont open

hey all, im having this new problem with my win200 machine. all my programs when i open give me an error messege and then say that it has to close. the only programs that will work are my microsoft office progs, my norton antivirus, and my spyware adware deleting software, and also IE....now i prefer not to use IE and i use firefox but that donest work. ive scaned my comp for virus and spyware junk and found tons, and of course deleted everything that was found and yet still i have the same problem.

any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks

This would probably be a good idea:

Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.
    (Not in this section please).

ok so i get that i need to post the log from the hijackthis.exe, but my problem is that it wont let me open any programs except a few. i went back to the computer ran all spyware adware and anitvirus stuff while in safe mode so i can delete any crap from the computer. i deleted everything that was found restarted regularly and tried to run hijackthis... and once again it continues to give me the same problem. once i double click to run the program it still gives me the same old error of this program has errors and needs to shut down, and thats it. so now what?

Boot into Safe Mode and run HiJackThis again (unless your PC is still running since your previous post). Select the following entries to be removed:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [checkrun] C:\windows\system32\eliteapy32.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System service62] C:\WINDOWS\etb\pokapoka62.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System service63] C:\WINDOWS\etb\pokapoka63.exe

Then close HiJackThis and go into Windows Explorer. Delete pokapoka62.exe and pokapoke63.exe from the C:\Windows directory and delete EliteApy32.exe from the C:\Windows\System directory.

While you're in there, delete the contents of the C:\Windows\Temp and C:\Temp folders if you have them. Also delete the contents of "C:\Documents And Settings\Frank Salerno\Local Settings\Temp".

Then empty the Recycle Bin (note that this will permanently wipe any other files that you've deleted to the Recycle Bin that you might want to restore first).

Then reboot normally and run HiJackThis again. Make sure there are no entries in the log for the 3 files mentioned above.

Then see if your problem is resolved. My instinct is that it will not be and you might need to some kind of repair to some of your Windows system files. But, in any case, you still need to get rid of these malware problems first.

Once this is resolved, you MUST ensure that you have a secure firewall enabled, otherwise these problems will keep coming back.

Let us know how you get on
