    about:blank Hell

I'm having the same problem with "about:blank" that everyone else has had. I've used all of the removal software that has been recomended for this particular virus, but to no avail. Anyone who even takes the time to look at my logfile is a saint. Many thanks in advance; I am at a total loss.

BTW - When I compare my logfile to that of other users, it still seems awfully short in length - I did follow all the directions for posting a log this time.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
    Hi,zachthomas20

Hmm i have no idea what to make of this logfile would you happen
to be running HijackThis from Safe Mode???? if so lit me know before
you do what i am about to have you do.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie_intl/en/start/
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://home.microsoft.com/search/lobby/search.asp
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redi...=ie&ar=iesearch
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = about:blank
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie_intl/en/start/
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redi...=ie&ar=iesearch
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redi...=ie&ar=iesearch
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,CustomizeSearch = http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redi...=ie&ar=iesearch
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redi...=ie&ar=iesearch
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = about:blank
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,(Default) = http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redi...=ie&ar=iesearch
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://ie.search.msn.com/{SUB_RFC1766}/srchasst/srchasst.htm
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://ie.search.msn.com/{SUB_RFC1766}/srchasst/srchcust.htm
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,(Default) = http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redi...=ie&ar=iesearch
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://home.microsoft.com/access/autosearch.asp?p=%s

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

These 4 here where they put inplace by you or Admins of this PC if no fix them all
    O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
    O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
    O6 - HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
    O6 - HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

    O19 - User stylesheet: C:\WINDOWS\windows.dat

Then close out of HijackThis & do this here

    click start->settings->control panel->internet options->programs tab->RESET WEB SETTINGS

That will change everything back to defaults (M$)......

Change your homepage and search engines to whatever you wish and reset your pc.

When it boots back up, open IE and see if the page stays the way that you set it.

    & also do this here

Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:

    1. From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
    2. Click once on the Security tab
    3. Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
    4. Click once on the Custom Level button.
    1. Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
    2. Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
    3. Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
    4. Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
    5. Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
    6. Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
    7. When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
    8. If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
    5. Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

now once done with all of the above do this here right away

Go for free online Virus scans here:

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hou.../start_corp.asp
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

Be sure and put a check in the box by "Auto Clean" before you do the scan. If it finds anything that it cannot clean have it delete it or make a note of the file location so you can delete it yourself.

again lit me know if you ran this scan from Safe Mode also i don't see
any Virus scanner are you running one.
