Sounds like you've got some bad host files entries that are Preventing you accessing spyware and security related sites. Please download Hijack This from www.isecurity.org.uk/downloads/hijackthis.exe and then click the link in my signature which explains how to post a log. Post the log back here at D-A-L and we'll get it sorted...

BTW - After I had posted this to you, I got a message from my McAfee VirusScan software that the "hijackthis.log" file was infected with a Trojan virus (Exploit-MhtRedir.gen). That's just dandy... getting me into an entirely different problem while ostensibly trying to help me solve the spyware one.

I would suggest fixing all of those entries and anymore Owen or another one of the log reading experts suggests. You have the sites blocked that's what host files do. As I said wait for Owen or someone elses opionons before taking any action. You have a mess there. HTH

Thanks, Bear, but how do I "fix" those entries? Also, how do you suppose this "mess" was created? I never had any problems before I installed XP SP2 about 10 days ago.

Then boot into Safe Mode and ensure that you are showing Hidden Files and Folders.

Delete the following files and folders:

C:\WINDOWS\alchem.exe
C:\WINDOWS\TSI32

Reboot and post a fresh log
