As had been said without being able to update to the latest
ver of both WinXP & IE it will just not work you would be doing

Not illegal... shared. Maybe I didn't explain myself well enough. It's a corporate version, that is liscenced for use on multiple computers. I don't have the original software, and so can't check the CD key.

If your copy of XP is legit this will tell you:
To check your current activation status please type the following in the RUN box:
oobe/msoobe /a
Windows Update would not be asking for a key if things were legit.
Also if you do have a product key it will be shown with this scan:
