    Hi,cruisen2005

    Great work you did there now for the logfile it looks good but
    for these 2 here

    are you using iRiver Music Manager.
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iRiver Updater] \Updater.exe

    now i think this item here is part of the item above
    C:\Updater.exe

    now here is my problem part of it comes up as legit but
    all the info i get on this file nowhere do i see it show up as
    C:\Updater.exe so before we go on here is it something
    you installed if so see if it is in C:\Updater.exe

    as you do that i will be looking for more info on this

    & get this out of the way

    Go for free online Virus scans here:

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hou.../start_corp.asp
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

    Be sure and put a check in the box by "Auto Clean" before you do the scan. If it finds anything that it cannot clean have it delete it or make a note of the file location so you can delete it yourself.

    Thanks for your help. I still can't get internet explorer to go to a web site.

    address bar won't disply, etc

    I tried going to yahoo.com from favorites and nothing happens.

    Startup menu > Program (still empty)
    Setting > Control Panel (Control panel won't open)

    I try to open/edit windows firewall...
    "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall Setting"

    Any ideas?

    Hi,cruisen2005

    Let's give this here a try maybe we will see something
    not sure but why not try it

    Download FindIt's.zip to your desktop.
    Unzip/extract the files inside preferable to C:\ < a new folder.
    Disconnect from the internet, if you use an always on internet connection unplug it.
    Let your PC be idle for 15 minutes !!
    Open the folder and run the FindIt's.bat and wait for a text to open, it will take awhile be patient, post the results please.

    If you get an error similar to:
    C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application...etc etc'
    Go here and use the approprient fix for your system

    Hi,Cruisen2005

    This infection may delete the Windows shell.dll file and the control.exe file. Make sure you always perform a Windows search for these files after the cleanup. If you are using Windows 2000, or XP, go to Start, Search, For Files or Folders, and type in shell.dll.
    For Windows 2000, it will be found here:

    * C:\WINNT\System32
    * C:\WINNT\System

    For Windows XP, it will be found here:

    * C:\Windows\System32
    * C:\Windows\System

    Now look for the control.exe file.
    For Windows 2000 it will be found here:

    * C:\WINNT\System32

    For Windows XP it will be found here:

    * C:\Windows\System32

    If any of these files are missing in 2000 or XP, they can be replaced from the dllcache folder.
    For Windows 2000, a replacement can be found here:

    * C:\WINNT\System32\dllcache

    For Windows XP, a replacement can be found here:

    * C:\Windows\System32\dllcache

    Now copy and paste the file(s) from the dllcache folder into the proper folder (shown above) according to your version of Windows.

    The files shell.dll and control.exe can also be downloaded. They can be downloaded from here. Once the file(s) are downloaded extract the file(s) and copy them into the proper folder (shown above) according to your version of Windows. If you are using Windows 98, ME please download shell.dll or control.exe from here.
    Once the file(s) are downloaded extract the file and copy it to the following locations:
    Place control.exe here:

    * C:\Windows

    Place shell.dll here:

    * C:\Windows\System

    Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
    Thanks for all your help. I ended up having to do a system recovery then reinstalling applications. All of my data files were in tack from the HP sys recovery. I have all the necessary guards installed this time. Thanks again.

    I have another issue with my other pc I'll have to post a log on a new thread. My command.exe has a trojan. Everything works ok but I need to get rid of this.
