I just wanted to post that I tried to do a scan with AVG. I saw that there was something called Java/ByteVerify? and B.Class Java/ByteVerify C: Documents and Settings\AV\ipi_cache\iat1.olar-7416bd86B7...
the scan froze but it said there were 7 viruses. I tried to look them up but without having the full name or whatever none of the sites said. Are these viruses or was the AVG just picking them up because of the word Java? Also I could tell if they were in a quarintined folder or not though it did say documents and settings. well i'll let ya go. thanks for any help
Sorry for not gething back to you on this now are
you now running 2 Virus scanners again if so not good
if you are running just 1 scanner the best thing to do
is make sure it is updated & run a full system scan
now if you can find the full Path to these files
lit me know where they are this way we can try
going after them & try to delete them
Its ok. We are only running one and thats AVG. We didn't have anymore updates for the Norton so i turned that one off. I updated the AVG and started the scan. (I went to tools and internet options and deleted cookies and stuff first) It ran longer this time and i'm not sure if its cuz I deleted that stuff or not. But it ran for 15 minutes this time. It picked up the same ones it did the last time. I added the attatchment so you could see where they are. They say its a zip but I went there and it doesn't look like it.
we play games on a site called pogo and they use java applets I think they are. Do these usually harm the computer and if they do is there a way to fix it so they don't hurt it and still play there? Thanks for your help, I know this is a pain lol.
Thanks for replying. I went in and deleted the cache and clicked it so that it wouldn't store it. I think cleared out the cookies and files. And started AVG to see if it would pick anything else up. It scanned for 6 minutes and stalled. I noticed it stalled as it was scanning this,
C: Program Files\Java\j2rel.4.1_01\lib\rt-jar.\com\sun\security\auth\module\keyStoreLoginMod ule.class
is that something I should leave alone or delete? It had a bunch of folders in it when I looked and things I didn't know anything about. Is it there to make java work or something.
Hi, I tried to delete that file and the computer didn't want to load. Finally after several times I was able to get it past the screen with the names of the people who can log onto windows. I was able to put the file back but still the puter isn't wanting to load. I can't even get it to load in safe mode anymore. I can't find out windows xp cd. I thought maybe I should do that but without the cd I don't know if I can do that. Is there a way to test what is wrong or do we just have to go by symptoms? thanks for any help
oh and I was able to check the BIOS I guess they are called and checked the temp and it said 69 celcius and 49 celcious. I don't know what the right temp is but thought I'd add that here.

Reason: forgot to put the temp
I was just wondering if you were having a problem with knowing what to do next or if your just really busy? I'm not trying to be pushy, just wondering. Also, do you think that we should reinstall windows or just do a recovery? We have the discs for recovery we just can't find the one for reinstalling xp. Also, we have a disc called windows manual? Thats not the one that reinstalls right? Thanks for your time
