Just a quick search of 80072efd finds this:

    http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%20...-8&hl=en&meta=

    Just as a follow-up:

Is there some reason that you have not installed SP2?

Both of your MSN issues appear to be .NET related.

    Hi,patjohn

First lit me get this here out of the way

Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:

    1. From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
    2. Click once on the Security tab
    3. Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
    4. Click once on the Custom Level button.
    1. Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
    2. Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
    3. Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
    4. Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
    5. Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
    6. Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
    7. When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
    8. If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
    5. Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

& now the tools make sure to update them all

SpywareBlaster - Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.

SpywareGuard - An anti-virus program scans files before you open them and prevents execution if a virus is detected - SpywareGuard does the same thing, but for spyware!

IE-SPYAD is a Registry file (IE-ADS.REG) that adds a long list of sites and domains associated with known advertisers, marketers, and crapware pushers to the Restricted sites zone of Internet Explorer.

Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts File

and this prog here will help keep your PC clean.

popular programs for doing this, is a freeware program Called Crap Cleaner. Crap Cleaner is a single utility that lets you clear your Cookies, Internet Explorer History, Empty the Recycle Bin, Uninstall Programs, Clear Usage Tracks and much more. As well as this, it has an Advanced Registry Scanner. Using a program like this is one of the easiest methods.

You should also think about using Firefox & Mozilla & us IE for updates

    HJThis,

Thanks for all of your help. I managed to get the hotmail and messenger problem solved. I will take your advice to keep the PC clean.

This is a stupid problem now, but my Norton program keeps sending pop ups stating that "Program Launch Monitoring has detected that an unrecognized program is attempting to access the Internet using svchost.exe." Or another name. It asks What do you want to do? Block Once (Recommended) I press OK. That's fine. I appreciate it doing it, but it keeps sending them, one after another after another! As soon as I press OK, there's another notice. I press OK, and there's another notice. I've never had it send so many at a time. I don't want to turn off the Monitoring, but is there any way to keep them from sending me a notice every time?

Thanks again! You are a life saver! I will be recommending this site to my friends!

    HJThis,

The Norton thing seems to have stopped; perhaps it was left over from all of the changes. I don't know. I'll have to see if it happens later.

As for how I fixed the messenger thing, it's really a guess. I searched on google and found other people had had the same problem, and I looked at one answer. I think I did Step 8 when I had success. I'm not sure; it was really late last night when I did it, but I'm pretty sure that is what did it. Anyway, here is the link to the page I used. http://www.mcse.ms/message1589484.html Thanks again for all your help!
