Hi new boy here , I dont know much about computers and need help .
we go on E bay , and a little bit of general surfing , kids use M.S,N. and thats about it , I run windows 98.
Alls been well for years . but now , every time we try to go on line CERES , pops up along with pics of gwen stefani in a casino , I never normally get pop ups coz ive got a stopper but somehow Ive got this and its on all the time .
I clicked on a question mark symbol in the top right hand corner of it and it directed me through five easy steps of how to get rid of it , but step 4 advised me to turn all my antivirus off and thats when the alarm bells started ringing . so my question for the forum is

1 . what is ceres , is it a harmless nusience pop up or a nasty virus.

2. should I trust it and follow its instructions and disable my antiviruses and see what happens .

3. how can I get the annoying tw*t off my P.C.

4. I am close to a winning bid on the E - bay , supposing I win , should I go ahead and pay thro paypal/ credit card while CERES is on my P.C.

Any help or advice anyone can offer would be very much appreciated, but I am not a computer expert like you lot so any advice must be step by step
