I was having a hell of a time trying to get rid of this hijacker but nothing I tried did the job until I tried Adware Away so for anyone having trouble try this it might help. Just follow their instructions. I also had to uninstall Norton because I couldnt enable Auto-Protect which wasnt allowing me to log into any sites. U can reinstall it after, I chose not because I think Norton is a load of Crap.

I was stuck with the About:Blank hijack and couldn't get rid of it with anything. For the most part, i got another browser and simply stopped using IE except when I had to.

The only thing that worked for me was suggested by a friend on another board:

(1) Ctl-Alt-Del, and close all .exe's running under your username (except taskman).

(2) Delete anything suspicious in the HKCU/HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run

(3) Restart in safe mode, and manually set your IE start page.

I've had to use this twice and it seems to work.
