Computer doesn't start up properly - Log posted

    Hi Owen,

My computer is once again giving me grief with the same problem as last time.

On booting up the computer I get a windows message saying 'The network adaptor files have been installed. click OK to restart your computer.'

It gives me no other option other than that, and whatever I try to bypass this, the PC simply restarts itself.

Here is the log I got off it yesterday:

    Sorry about the response time:

Can I point out your running an outdated version of AVG (AVG 6). Get AVG 7 from http://free.grisoft.com.

Close all browser windows, restart Hijack This and put a checkmark next to the following entries:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [service] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\rundata.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [data32runx] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\datacrypt.exe %srun%

    Click Fix Checked

Then boot into Safe Mode and ensure that you are showing Hidden Files and Folders.

Delete the following files and folders:
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\rundata.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\datacrypt.exe

Reboot and post a fresh log

    Hi Owen,

Not to worry, I realise you're all busy people.

I did as you asked and here is the resulting log:

I rebooted the PC after deleting the files and in normal mode it still came up with the same error message. I had to reboot in Safe mode to get access, that's when I got the log.

The new version of AVG came out since the computer stopped working properly so I haven't been able to update it properly. I will definitely do it once it's back up and running.

    Cheers,

    Jazz

Could you possibly post me a screen shot of the message you are receiving (if you don't know how, post back and I'll explain).

    Hi Owen,

I think I know how to do it, don't you just press the Print Screen button when the message comes up and then paste it into a document?

The problem is, if I get to the message then get a screen shot, I have to restart the PC in safe mode before I can get to any other applications like Word etc to paste the screen shot into. Is there a way around that?

    Thanks,

    Jazz

No there isn't if its just automatically restarting. What is the exact error? Post it like this...

    "Title Bar"
    Error Message in box

    Buttons: Ok, Cancel, etc.

    Title bar: "Install"

Message in box: "The network adapter files have been installed. Click OK to restart computer"

    Button: "OK"

Even if I try and close it without pressing "OK" it still restarts.

Try fixing this entry in Hijack This in Safe Mode, I'm not sure about it, it has the word "inst" in it so could possibly be installing something and the fact its a run once:

    O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [ospath-autoinst] C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\AOL\ACS\OSPATH.EXE -autoinst

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
    It worked!

The PC now boots up as it should. Thanks Owen, once again, YOU'RE A STAR!!!

Okay, I have all the recommended programs installed on my PC to prevent viruses, to clean up excess rubbish that gets stored etc. Is there anything else I can do to stop this happening again?

Thank you soooo much for your help!

    Jazz
