I've read about V Sign and its a boot sector virus. Are you having any problems with booting your PC up?

The V Sign Virus infects floppy disks you insert into the computer according to what I have read. I suggest you perform an Online Scan here http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx and cure any files it finds.

    Post back with the results

i went to the etrust virus scanner and scanned my computer.the scan revealed 1 virus,win32.wintrim.v.I TRIED TO CLEAN BUT IT SAID, COULD NOT BE CLEANED.I RAN INTO THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY MCAFEE SCANNER EXCEPT IT TOLD ME TO MAKE A RESCUE DISK.WHICH I DID TO NO AVAIL. THE RESCUE DISK WAS DR. SOLOMONS.ALSO THE ETRUAT ENCYCLOPEDIA HAD NO REFERENCE FOR THIS VIRUS.WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST? ALSO,THANKS ALOT FOR YOUR HELP!

I've merged the threads. Stick to the original thread please, it avoids confusion. Could you make sure you have a copy of Mcafee and then temporarily uninstall it (download AVG first) and download AVG from here.

Install AVG, update it and run a full scan. Then tell me what happens.

I Downloaded The Mcafee Off Of The Aol Site .so,i Don't Have Anything To Re-install It, Without Going Through A Lot Of Trouble.
Also,i Have Downloaded The Avg For Free And Run The Scan.it Told Me The Same Thing Basically.i Had A Lot Of Trouble Downloading The Avg .everytime I Would Go To The Site The Computer Would Give Me The "illegal Operation Popup" And Shut Me Down.so I Finally Found Something I Could Download, Which Was Mcafee.i Haven't Had As Much Problems.

Could you follow the instructions in the Hijack This Logs post at the top of the forum and run the appropriate programs and post a Hijack This Log. Thanks

Owen,i Have Downloaded Everything Off Of The Hijack This Thread, with The Exception Of The Shredder.my System Seems A Little More Responsive And I Was Able To Clear A Lot Of Unwanted Junk Cookies And Found A Couple Of Hijack Attempts.1 Which I Think Was Successful(coolweb).one Question I Have Though Is,what Should I Look For When I Scan With The" Hijack This"program? Some Of The Entries Do Not Have A Recognizable Label.so I Don't Know What To Fix If Anything.also I Still Have The Virus To Deal With. Again, thanks For The Helpful Info.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
Please, I have said once, keep to the original thread. You don't fix the Hijack This entries yourself, you post the log here and I'll take a look at it and tell you what to fix. So please post the log...
