Help!
I have two problems that I think are virus related. Please excuse my poor description by my tech knowledge is pretty poor, so I would also appeciate VERY simple responses.
Issue 1
I am running Xp Home. During start up, my operating screen comes up pretty quickly, but it takes a long time beofre I can access any programs. The standard MS audio start up sound comes along about 4-5mins after the screen. Some programs start up but perform slowly, but others are very slow even being accessed. Any suggestions as to what might be causing the delay? This problem has been occuring for a while and does not seem to impact on the overall performance of my machine.
Issue 2
While on-line today a couple of unsolicited sites started 'connecting' to my machine. A warning screen took over as my wallpaper. I clicked on the properties tab and it said it was a desktop.html file. I deleted that file. Now I juat have a white wallpaper.
It looks as though the wallpaper is stting over my normal wallpaper which actually appears during start up. But once my slow start up has completed, this white wallpaper appears.

Any help that anyone can offer would be appreciated.
