Thats a clean log, how are things running? It depends which software you have installed...

    Everything seems fine indeed, thanks.

    Back to my specific question:

"It seems I've slightly overdone the security thing, and I can't access personal web pages anymore, like my Hotmail page or my homepage on a web forum. Flash doesn't seem to work either. Could you please tell my how to (temporarily) undo this security overload?"

Software installed: everthing advised on this website, i.e.:

    - firewall: PrivateFireWall 3.0
    - anti-virus: Norton 8.07.17C
    - general security: Spybot S&D, SpywareGuard, SpywareBlaster, SpyAd
    - I installed Sun's Java as well

and I think that's all I can think of right now.

I think Norton Antivirus may be capable of blocking Ads or that may be Norton Firewall. Try disabling Norton Antivirus, do things work? If not, reenable it and then disable your firewall. Do things work? Reenable everything afterwards. I don't think the other 5 can be the suspects.

Disabling those doesn't change a thing. I suspected so, because they were installed and running long before I started having trouble, and didn't cause any problem of that kind.

Could it be one of the little routines and patches I ran (DelDomains.inf, fix.reg, anything else)?

I also wonder about the flash player, how can I reenable it?

    Thanks...

Deldomains and Fix.reg won't have affected the problem. Perhaps reinstall Flash at www.macromedia.com. See if that solves your problem.

    Hehe, new trouble in sight.

I tried to donwload and install FlashPlayer, it didn't seem to work, but there was a note on the website saying I may have to reboot the computer. I tried to do this, and it seems I can't leave Windows anymore. When I try to reboot or close Windows, I get the following message: "Windows is currently working on a file. You have to wait for the end of the operation or close the file before leaving Windows". This happened to me yesterday as well, and I couldn't figure out what file they're talking about. All applications are closed, that's all I know.

    What's next?

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
What file does the message mention? It will usually say ****.exe beinging the filename.

BTW, you need to get to Windows Update ASAP (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) and download Service Pack 2. This may well solve your Shut Down problems. As well, your "Security Overload" is useless protection without this Service Pack. Without it, you have huge gaps in your Operating Systems Security.
