    Smile Cleaning My PC

I'm cleaning up my PC and I found a few things from Spy Sweeper and so I want to post this HijackThis log just in case I should need to delete something from it. I also have some questions about the log.

    1. What is the ctfmon.exe for?
    2. What is the definition of a "service"? (last entries in the log)

    Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.0

I know it will take a few days to probably get to this. I'm in no hurry since this is just my regular cleaning. Thanks

If you go to Start> Run and type services.msc and hit Enter, you will see all the services on your PC. Services are used by Windows for a variety of things and are either started Automatically when Windows starts or Manually by Windows when needed. Next to the services in services.msc are descriptions of what they are used for. Some Services have dependencies, so if one service isn't running It can't run. Hijack This has a white list of Windows Services built into it, so the O23s are usually third party services. As you can see, there are a couple from AOL, a few from ATI, Creative and Matsu****a.

From another site: "CTFMon is involved with the language/alternative input services in Office XP. CTFMON.exe will continue to put itself back into MSConfig when you run the Office XP apps as long as the Text Services and Speech applets in the Control Panel are enabled. Not required if you don't need these features. For more info on ctfmon see here".

    Your HJT Log is clean.

Yes, I'm very familiar with the Services.msc - hate those messenger pop-ups.

I figured CTFmon was some system thingy, I do sometimes use voice commands on my PC.

Well, I'm glad to hear it's clean. Thanks for your time.
