Hello,ReeveD
This here do you know what it is did you install it
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Program List Meta Show] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Manager Soft Program List\RuleThe.exe
other then this i don't see it what is the problem
that you are having please
HGD
-
HJD,
No idea what it is or how it got there. Should I use Hijack This to get rid of it ?
Thanks for your help.
-
HGD,
I renamed the file and I also found that there was a file in c:\windows\prefetch called RULETHE.EXE-355F07FB.pf so I renamed that as well and the toolbar and the search popup have gone away. I don't have any idea where they came from.
Thank you for your help.
-
Hi,ReeveD
Well that is good news did you happen to make
a copy of the file if yes let me know please
now i have some software for you to have a
look at if you don't have them you should
think about installing them up to you
IE-SPYAD| IE-SPYAD is a Registry file (IE-ADS.REG) that adds a long list of known advertisers, marketers, pushers to the Restricted sites zone of Internet Explorer. Once IE-ADS.REG is "merged" into your Registry, most direct marketers and pushers will not be able to resort to their usual "tricks" (e.g., cookies, scripts, popups, et al) in order to monitor and track your behavior while you surf the Net.
SpywareBlaster| doesn't clean and scan for spyware it-prevents it from ever being installed..
SpywareGuard| provides a real-time protection solution against spyware that is a great addition to SpywareBlaster's protection method.
MRU-BLASTER| Protect your privacy - MRU-Blaster can detect and clean over 30,000 MRU lists and other stores of hidden information on your computer!

HGD,
I didn't keep a copy of it but I have made an interesting discovery. I got the problem back last night and I have narrowed down how it happens. It appears that something is haging off the download process. HWne I first got the problem I had just downloaded a new version of Symatec Internet Security PRofessional. Last night I downloaded SP2 for XP and the problem returned. I used HijackThis to get rid of it again but there was another of those strange entries likebefore
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Program List Meta Show] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Manager Soft Program List\RuleThe.exe
Only the program name was something different I can't remember what it was.
Do you have any ideas on how I can clean up whatever is doing this every time I download something.
Thanks,
Dave
-
