my comp was attacked by home search assistant than you helped me removing it got removed but than i downlooaded firewall ,windows updates and that all but now it is working tremendously slow . Even writing this message took more time than usual. it takes around 5-6 minutes to open microsoft word.

Even when i try too open microsoft photo editor it starts installing microsoft office premium 2000 and in the middle of installation it searches for cd or floppy or some external device. Even i am not able to open many sites. It shows internet explorer's error message and the only option they give to restart internet explorer . thank god that this site is available

Have a read of the Cleaning Up and Speeding Up thread and get your PC cleaned out and perhaps optimise it. There will be something responsible for slowing it down.

i am not able to open even hotmail or yahoo sites having password are not opening it shows internet explorer encountered a problem

what happens if i delete the internet 6 explorer would internet explorer5 be there???
or not is it the same with office

The log is clean.

Deleting Internet Explorer will not leave IE 5 there. I don't think this is an issue involving security, so I suggest you post in the Windows 98 forum and you will be helped better there.

I got my problem solved by a local computer expert .
