I have a virus(Downloader.Trojan) on my windows XP(home edition). I have been using Microsofts online support to try to remove it .It says that I need to install a backup utility which is not in the default installation of XP home version. This can only be installed from the CD-ROM from windows XP Home edition. My computer came loaded with the software, so I do not have the CD-ROM. So I'm stuck here after already spending 6 hours to get to this point. Is this something that I can download??? What do you suggest??

I don't see why you need a backup CD. I've fixed dozens of this infection and never needed that utility. First of all, read my signature and run the appropriate programs. Post back with a Hijack This log and tell me where this virus is detected. Cheers.
