for reference, i was infected with this relatively harmless virus, but it racked me off as it infects most of the programs that keep the system running (task manager list).. so every time i went to execute one of my progs which were in the 'tray' and ready to be started, it acted odd!.. generally, it hijacks the i-e browser and re-directs .. its a pop-up etc. Norton didnt want to get rid of it, it had infected 13 files (most system files in the task manager).. it said it could not delete them or clean them,.. thats phoey.. you just need to turn them files 'off' by re-booting, and before they have started i.e.. just a few seconds before they all load.. norton loads first , fnds them instantaneously as they load ,and sorts them out before they are 'readied' and running.
i am putting this post up, as i found another post when i was searching the web, and it mis-advises you that norton cant remove them.
Cheers forums!. what would we do without them.

That is a good way of doing it. Many programs do have a features where they interuppt the reboot process and perform a scan. The applications have not fully loaded and therefore can be removed.

ya, i didn't get that far this time,(scan after boot) but i do recollect norton scans after boot and before operating sys loads, ive been there before!.. ive also had the type where you have to turn system restore off to save the darn things re-loading from memory. it must be satisfying writing and executing a virus in a destrutive sort of way, but its definately more satisfying cleaning them!
