    No anti virus

We have Norton anti virus, recently we got a pop up that said there was a problem with it and we should uninstall it and then re-install it. We unistalled it using the control panel and now can't re-install it. Any ideas?

Close all browser windows, restart Hijack This and put a checkmark next to the following entries:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by Wanadoo
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows ControlAd] C:\Program Files\Windows ControlAd\WinCtlAd.exe
    O16 - DPF: {DB893839-10F0-4AF9-92FA-B23528F530AF} - http://www.pgsconnect.com/access/ukgolwla1x.exe

    Click Fix Checked

Then boot into Safe Mode and ensure that you are showing Hidden Files and Folders.

Delete the following files and folders:
    C:\Program Files\Windows ControlAd

Reboot and post a fresh log

When you buy a PC, you usually get a little utility disk with various applications on, usually including an Antivirus program. Does he have this disk?

If not, then I'm not sure theres a way of getting it back short of buying a new copy. I'd recommend AVG anyway.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
    Fix these entries:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows ControlAd] C:\Program Files\Windows ControlAd\WinCtlAd.exe
    O16 - DPF: {205FF73B-CA67-11D5-99DD-444553540006} (CInstall Class) - http://www.errorguard.com/installation/Install.cab
