Horrible Hijack
Hi, My machine apperas to be hijacked
Browser pages seem to appear after some number of minutes, and software is being installed in /Windows/System32.
I have Norton AntiVirus running and up to date.
I have Spyware Doctor
neither have removed the problem, although they pick things up as time moves on....
I attach my Hijack log, and thoroughly appreciate any help that can be given.

Can you please move HijackThis to it's own folder on your C: (example: C:\HijackThis). The program makes important backups which can be accidently lost when running from it's current location. If anything goes wrong with your fix, you may need these backups to restore your machine to it's previous state.
To do this, go to My Computer (Windows key+e)
Double click on C:
then right click and select New > Folder
Name it HijackThis and unzip/move your copy of HJT to it for future use.
Soft-Trend.net 'appears' to be a legit website but why you have so many IE start pages for it is beyond me. I'm going to recommend you remove all of them and then reset your default home and search pages at the end of the fix.
Please stay online while removing all the following via Add/Remove programs:
ISTSvc
Sidefind
180 Search Assistant
Power Scan <--If found
Run HJT again and checkmark the boxes next to the following:-
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://soft-trend.net
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.couldnotfind.com/search_...ount_id=1002626

Firstly - thank you for your reply.
I have attached a new log - however there is still something very nasty going on.
When I start IE after some time it automatically goes to http://www.klikfeed.com/search.php?aff=821&q=spyware
then opens another IE woindow at http://horseserver.net/1.html
and history also shows
http://tv.180solutions.com/showme.as...1:1:0:0:0&WE=5
These pages seem to open on some kind of times/schedule is IE or Mozilla are open.
Also there are executables being added to C:/WINDOWS/System32/ such as:
klo5.sys
wwyhaaaa.exe
ysbinstall.exe
tmpf01.exe
yygfncwd.exe
ps.a3d
mszx23.exe
p2.ini
lggaaaaa.exe
wpa.dlb
klogini.dll
FNTCACHE.DAT

Interesting, very interesting. I think you may have a very new infection here so you may have to bare with us a while. The log is clean but you're obviously still having some major problems. Are you getting porn related popups/redirects by any chance?
Please fix these entries with HJT...

Then reboot the machine and post me your host file.
Open HijackThis again
Click on 'Config' (bottom right) > Misc Tools > Open Host Files Manager
Then click on 'Open in Notepad'
Copy & paste the contents into your next reply please along with another HJT log. I think the Horseserver and Klikfeed 'R' entries will be rearing their ugly heads soon.
-
Have removed the three entries with HJT
I'm not getting porn related pop ups, but did initially have one.

Please update your Norton Virus definitions and follow the instructions here at Symantec on how to remove the Haxdoor.d threat from the registry. Once completed, please post another HijackThis log so we can remove the remainder of the malware. Make sure you backup the registry before deleting anything (instructions in the above link).
-
Once again - thank you for your help.
I updated Norton Virus definitions
Did not find the Haxdoor.d
Norton Anti Virus did find 31 Adware infections, but was only able to delete 11 of them :-( This was running NAV in safe mode. It showed the others as "Delete Failed"
There are copies of IE starting up, with copies of
ps.a3d
klo5.sys
mszx23.exe
ysbinstall
tmpf01.exe
added to WINDOWS/System32 today
and now Eudora is starting automatically as well....and it is not listed under start menu-programs-start up anywhere.
Feels like things are getting worse.
Is it time to re-install my system??
Giles
-
Norton AV cannot remove Haxdoor.d yet as far as I'm aware hence the reason it doesn't find it with the current definitions. They do however know where the problem lies and how to manually remove it. Did you follow the entire removal procedure including the registry changes?
-
ppologies I misunderstood.
Have backed up registry.
Things have not gone quite to plan...
1. Did not find the following items
"Secboot" = "w32tm.exe"
"hws" = "[0xRandom]"
under # HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
(searched registry to see if elsewhere - but not there)
2. Have deleted:
