Distressed girl going mad at about blank virus

    Hi All,

Just joined this forum...Ive got the same problem as many of you already have had.

I am deciding to format my whole hard drive to get rid of this recurring virus. Ive tried Spybot Search & Destroy and AdAware SE/Personal, they find things but cannot delete them.

Please please help...!! (specifically to owen as he seems to be the expert on this!)

I see that everyone posts a log of a hijackthis scan...so Im going to do that too, no idea why? Please someone explain!

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
Right, hold your horses, don't format its not needed unless the problem is terrible. I think I've only ever made one post telling someone to format because I were clueless after about 5 forum pages of trying it out.

Tells us quite a bit about the areas of your system that Hijackers meddle with and therefore allows us to help you and get the problem cleared it. It doesn't show personal information, rest assured.

And as for Norton, if you read the Attention AVG Antivirus Users thread at the top of the forum, you will get the idea of why people don't like it and a bit of info from me about it as well as some other programs.

Close all browser windows, restart Hijack This and put a checkmark next to the following entries:

    O2 - BHO: IEHlprObj Class - {FD8953C6-823F-46ab-8669-3B2BBF3A9210} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\iehelper.dll
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)
    O23 - Service: WLTRYSVC - Unknown - C:\WINDOWS\System32\WLTRYSVC.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\bcmwltry.exe (file missing)

    Click Fix Checked

Reboot and post a fresh log
