    Well Owen-

I wish I had more details- about a month ago I lost the ability to see most websites that need cookies. needless to say it is mostly when i am tryin got complete a purchase and pay for an item that the site will usually say tha I need to allow cookies in order to proceed. I have lowered my security settings in the privacy zone and I have used advanced settings to allow session cookies and it does not seem to change a thing. i am the administrator for the pc so I believe the changes I make carry over to other users, however my husband is unable to see cookies when he logs on either. So I am at a loss to understand what else I can do to enable the pc to see cookies again. I operate in Windows xp if that helps at all

any and all insight you could provide me - would be most appreciated, you and the others have been so helpful so far

    Thanks in advance
    Meaghan

I see in your log that you are running the Etrust Firewall. This has options for filtering cookies and could possibly be the cause of your problems, rejecting cookies needed.

This is from the Zone Labs support website (the firewall is based on Zone Labs firewalls):

Internet cookies make it possible for e-commerce sites (like Amazon, for example) to recognize you as soon as you arrive and customize the pages you visit. However, cookies can also be used to record information about your Web browsing habits and give that information to marketers and advertisers. Default medium cookie control setting balances security with convenience by blocking only third-party cookies—those cookies that are used to track your viewing habits. Session cookies and persistent cookies are allowed. To adjust Cookie Control:

    1. Open the ZoneAlarm Pro /Suite Control Center.
    2. Click on PRIVACY -> MAIN tab.

    # In the Cookie control area, click the slider and drag it to the desired setting. HIGH Blocks all cookies except session cookies. This setting may prevent some Web sites from loading.
    # MED Blocks persistent cookies and third party cookies from tracking Web sites. Allows cookies for personalized services.
    # OFF Allows all cookies.
