Hi, my other computer has been infected by a virus and everytime I try to boot my pc and start Windows on the Welcome screen restarts by itself. This don't let me start windows and try to run a Anti-Virus maybe that could solve the problem but I can't. I also have my Windows XP cd and it has a 'Repair' tool that lets me modify files in the WINDOWS folder, that could help also. Any recomendations?

Can you get into Safe Mode?

If so, see if you can put AVG Antivirus and Hijack This (see Hijack This Logs post at the top of this forum) onto a disk and run them. Then post back with the log.

Ok, I'm running Safe Mode with Networking is that ok? I did that to download the avg antivirus and Hijack This right here on the infected pc. Right now I'm downloading them...

Another thing, I got infected by the virus because I formatted my pc and I didnt installed an anti-virus yet, so I'll ask you owen: Is avg the same as norton or another anti-virus? Or there is a real difference between them?

Uh oh, the AVG anti-virus encountered a problem when I was installing it and it said that it cant be installed in Safe Mode, another thing please: can you help me to remove some hijackers that changed my homepage, some things that appeared in my desktop like: 'XXX' (things like that) and everything related to XXX because I didnt chose to install those things? thanks.

I could have helped you sort that but its your choice. Yes, AVG is the same, if not better than Norton.

Make sure you take the protection measures mentioned in the Hijack This Logs post ASAP.
