    Exclamation Hijack this logs (Resolved)

    hello all,

    Recently my browser has been taken over and I am trying to take it back. I ran adaware and removed a bunch of stuff including some sasser stuff, so I'm pretty sure we got hit by it. Any how, I downloaded hijackthis and ran it, but like so many others, I have no idea what it means. Below is my log.

    I also went to symantec's website and did a virus scan. It gave me these 6 files that are infected. Again, any help would be great.

    Korgo is Symantec's name for the Sasser Worm and its something that you need to get off your system ASAP. What I want you to do, is go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com and perform an Online Scan. Remove any viruses it finds. This is better than Symantec's scanner because it actually removes them. Then post a fresh log

    Thanks. I have now done an online scan form housecall.trendmicro.com. It was able to remove everything but Ohqplp.exe located in the windows/system file. It said that the program was running. ctrl alt delete did not show the program as running so I could find no way to delete it or stop the program.

    Just to be sure that nothing is still lurking on your system, I want you to install an antivirus program. It is called AVG and its available here. It is freeware. I want you to update the program and then scan for viruses and remove anything it finds and then post a fresh log

    You are still infected with what Symantec detected as the "Spybot Worm". What I want you to do is perform a full system scan with AVG in Safe Mode. This is the file that should be removed: C:\WINDOWS\System32\soundblaster.exe

    I tried to run AVG in safe mode, but it does not start up. It says driver(CORE) is not found. What should I do? Can I remove the darn things manually?

    Damn, I was hoping that wouldn't come up. Close all programs, then perform a virus scan in normal mode and post a fresh log. If we can't get rid of them this time, I'll help you remove them using another method.

    Okay, I've run a few different virus scans, and sasser removal things, but I'm not sure any of them worked. Here is a fresh log from hijack This:

    Brilliant, that seems to have worked.

    Close all browser windows, restart Hijack This and put a checkmark next to the following entries:
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by Verizon Online
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IST Service] C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Micr Update] soundblaster.exe
    O16 - DPF: {386A771C-E96A-421F-8BA7-32F1B706892F} (Installer Class) - http://www.xxxtoolbar.com/ist/softw...006_regular.cab

    Click Fix Checked

    Then boot into Safe Mode and ensure that you are showing Hidden Files and Folders.

    Go to Start> Control Panel. Double Click Add/Remove Programs. Uninstall any of the following, if they don't exist, ignore it and go onto the next:
    MS AUpdate
    MS Updates
    ISTbar     (Most likely to exist)

    Then go to C:\Program Files and delete the following:
    ISTsvc

    Then go to Start> Search and Search for Files And Folders (Remember to search hidden files and folders). Search for and delete the following. Please note, it may not exist:
    soundblaster.exe

    Reboot and post a fresh log
