My Toshiba laptop is now 5 years old - a great machine. running Vista. Would it be better to buy a new laptop or upgrade to Windows 7?

and see what you'd "need" for Windows 7. That may help in your decision.

Thanks for your quick reply to my question. I have used the Windows 7 upgrade advisor you mentioned. My machine seems to be OK to do this but I'm still not sure. My Toshiba laptop is working fine but, as I mentioned it is 5 years old. Am undecided so I expect it's up to me in the end.

Well with a machine that's 5 years old, if you can afford it, get a new machine. That way, it's another 5 years before you're faced with the same question.

I think you are probably right Dan. I am going to find a good deal on a new laptop and hope I find one as good as my present one.
