I recently purchased a Magnavox VHS/DVD recorder/player to make discs of all the home videos that I have taken over the years. The unit works fine, so I thought I would see what it would do with all the VHS videos that I purchased over the years. Somehow I am able to put some of them on discs but others won't recorded. Tell me that I'm not allowed to copy this video. Why would some of them copy and others won't. Just looking for the reason.

Some videos of films etc have a copy protection system in them. It's called Macrovision and its hard encoded into the way the video is recorded which tells your recorder that it's copy protected. Not really much you can do about it tho :/

I sort of knew that they were protected but couldn't for the life of me figure out why some were able to be duped. Thanks, mthumudo
