    Buying a 24" Monitor

So as the topic says I'm looking to buy a 24" monitor. I used to use my laptop with a small HP 15" monitor by the side and while many of my friends felt two monitors were overkill, I enjoyed it a lot.

I've been looking at 24" monitors lately but I'm not sure which would be suitable for me. I'm not particular with color as I don't use photo-manip software often. I guess I'm looking for the best "bang for buck" monitor.

Oh, not to mention I might end up using that monitor as a TV as well. I'm not too sure yet. Moving out and don't want to get a TV lol.

And oh yeah! the Hanns HG-281DPB looks gorgeous. Though I've read that the Soyo 24" beats that 28" ass. See the confusion I'm at? Lol. I really need some suggestions here.

Newegg was having a sale on 24" monitors but I don't know if it is still on-going.

    What is your price range?

Sorry sorry. I typed that post in a rush cause I was heading out to the library. Only realized I left the budget out when I walked out of the dorm.

Budget's below 300. It would be best if I can find something below 250.

I've heard of Newegg and that's where I saw the sale they have for the 28inch Hanns monitor. However I'm not sure if the price they offer is cheaper or is it about the same as retail prices.

In the US Newegg has about the cheapest prices going.

Here is their list between $200 & $300:

    Newegg.com - $200 - $300, 24", LCD Monitors, Monitors, Computer Hardware

Hmm thanks! Any suggestions/recommendations? I've read some that spoke of TN panels versus MVA panels and etc.

Also, what's with contrast ratios and pixel pitches? I've googled up on it but it... doesn't really help. I'm still pretty lost.

    I will look later tonight.

Have you played the "scout update" TF2 yet?

    Nooo :'( *sobs sobs*

I gave my brother access to my steam account as his bday present and he's hogging it! Not to mention I am somewhat SWAMPED with work. My scholarship requires 30 hours of cultural sharing and... oh golly.

I guess I shouldn't complain since that scholarship is saving me loads. LOL.

Edit: Is the scout (my fav btw) kick ass zomg now? xD

I don't know yet. Haven't played yet. I tried to get on "achievement" servers last night but they were all private.

They also added a couple new maps.

You should try and use you service here at DAL as some "cultural sharing".

Oh how I fuh-rigging wish they would! Lol. You guys should all enroll at SCSU then xD. Maybe I'd get away with it then lol!

In Malaysia, you rarely see adults going to college/universities. Not the case here apparently.

Using just Newegg selections I narrowed it down first by resolution: 1920 x 1200

    Newegg.com - 1920 x 1200, $200 - $300, 24", LCD Monitors, Monitors, Computer Hardware

At first glance I like this:

    Newegg.com - Acer P243WAid Black-Silver 24" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor with HDCP Support 400 cd/m2 3000:1 ACM - LCD Monitors

    As far as:

    contrast ratios

    pixel pitches

I don't know but I will do some Googling.

Maybe someone else will have more ideas.
