OK this thread is for all those who want to see some changes around here. I am sure everyone agrees that this site is fanatastic for it's advice and knowledgeable moderators but we need to bring in more of a community spirit. Too many people register and never return and that needs to change.

So, lets hear you ideas.

Reading some older other threads I liked the ones where guys were modifying their desktops (big word time, probably splelled wrong) ecstically to thier own tastes and posting updates and pictures as they went along. Me being new to the computer thingy, I don't have the slightest idea how to post pictures or post what ya call it urls or any of the stuff you guys know like the back of your hand. I have somewhat a decent knowledge of messing around with swapping H/D's,ram,in other words doing the mechanical parts instead of the programmers aspect. Maybe, and I know you guys already post tech tips through the email ,some kind of simple class liking posting pictures on threads or posting urls for dummies like me might generate some more interest. Just my 2 cents worth. Hell you wouldn't believe how long it takes for me to type stuff like this out as I only learned the buttons 6 months ago and have to go back and right click all my spelling errors.

To post a picture, click on "Go Advanced" below the "Quick Reply" box. This will take you to a larger window to reply in. Below this new window, you will see "Additional Options". In this is a button for "Manage Attachments". Click on this and a window will pop open listing the maximum size for various file types which you can attach. At the top of this window is a BROWSE button. From there you can browse to the file you want to attach. When you have the desired file in the browse box, click UPLOAD. When it's finished uploading, the file will be listed and you just close the attachment window/box.

Thanks Dan for the info. Stored it in Notepad first and made a DAL file in my documents. Just figured out how to do that simple task. From now on I'm gonna start storing how to do some of these tasks instead of doing them once and forgetting in my old age. Again thank you for taking the time to tell me how its done. Time to fix bikes now.

Hmm ok so more competitions is one idea. I was thinking about a Modding competition? Best modification in some way to your existing PC..... any other ideas? I am happy to come up with a decent prize....might be able to strecth to a new Dell laptop or something..... ideas anyone?

I think a mod thing would be cool but I also think there are just a few people here that would do anything with it.

For a more general public something along the lines of photoshop etc would be more inclined to generate interest.

I guess the last photoshop idea just never got started.

One could photoshop mods.

Anyway I see many forums that use a daily photoshop thread just to create interest and fun. Not even for prizes per se. Just post an original something and then responders photoshop it. Voting is usually used. As in a poll perhaps.

Anyway just for fun and it draws interest I think.

My two pennies worth. I feel that the only thing this site is missing is exposure. I am a member of several support forums & I try to be fairly active. I found out about this site through one of the Lockergnome news letters & decided to check it out; I was impressed enough to register (without a problem). The only disappointment is the lack of activity, but I guess that that is what this thread is about. Sorry that I do not have a solution , but word of mouth can go a long way.

Maybe add a IRC chat room or some type of chat room for everyone to stay in touch? Also competitions sound like a grand idea seeing I have never have been able to become part of one. Also we should advertise more and I don't mind helping. Maybe someone can make some signatures with D-A-L in it so we can put it in our signatures on other forums to advertise?

People move on. Many of the Names who were well-known here when I joined two years ago have gone quiet... and I never did see that photo of Jaynee, naked and massively pregnant.
I have mentioned D-A-L to a couple of people at other sites who were having computer trouble.
