    Opinion on anti-spam?

My inbox is getting so crammed with spam I need to invest in some sort of anti-spam device. I use Thurderbird and Windows XP.

I've been looking around and can see there are software and even hardware options to address the problem, free software, paid for software... but don't know where to start.

Does anyone have an opinion on the subject or can you make any recommendations?

    Cheers
    Janey

The Delete button works fine for me.
Yahoo, despite its shortcomings, has one smart feature: the Bulk mail folder. 95% of spam gets shifted directly into there and doesn't clutter up the mail I'm actually interested in reading.
Gmail filters spam very efficiently. In the few months that I've had accounts there I may have had two or three spams get through.
I haven't used Thunderbird but I would expect that it could be set up so that suspect mail can be directed into a spam folder.
