I want to convert a video (AVI) to a format which takes up less space, is this possible without changing the quality/fps/size? (i.e just the format) i dont mind a slight quality loss (which i am going to get when converting), the video is not brilliant quality anyway...

Yes a good tool is tmpeg encoder. It will convert your AVI to an MPEG and still keep a good level of quality. You will usually find a large AVI of say 1.5Gb would come down to around 200Mb. Let me know if you need any help.
