    File Archiver/Compressors?

i was wondering, how do they compress the files till it becomes so much smaller? from what i heard, ZipDisk is the best but that requires hardware and all. so what's on my mind is like Winzip or Winrar, how do people do that?

everytime i compress, it either doesnt change, or is slightly bigger. even if i put "best" compression method.

so anyone have any suggestions which compressor is good?

from what i know of, winzip and winrar group all the files into one (e.g for uploading) and to compress files, i think you need specific programs for each type of file e.g. i compressed mp3's form 6mb to about 2 however, some quality was lost doing this

i am not 1000% sure though

well i found torrents and such that can actually compress multiple files together, at the same time make them smaller without quality lost.

i compressed one of my music album, the original size was 64mb. after compressed it was 65.7mb. so annoying
