Question A Trip to the US

hey y'all, well, like the title says, i'm planning on a trip to the US. my sister's graduation and all. so i'll be starting off at Minnesota and travel by car towards california i guess. a very long trip and all.

so like i said, start at Minnesota, ends at California's Disneyland. but in between i've got no idea where to stop and check out the views or such and all. so i'm very open for suggestions.

    thanks in advance

Google Maps is a great place to map the road. Just a few suggestions to start with:

Between Minnesota and Colorado is pretty boring flat farm land. The Great Plains as they are called but the only thing great is the size.

But you want to get down at some point towards Denver, Colorado

From Denver head to Salt Lake City, Utah

This road from the one to the other is one of the most amazing things to see!

    The Rocky Mountains! Wow!

From Salt Lake head towards San Francisco going thru Lake Tahoe.

From San Franciso drive down the coastal highway to LA.

well, i'm hoping to be able to stop by Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon , especially with the new Skywalk they just launched.

thanks jephree. hopefully other people will give their opinions as well.

    Yeah check it out! http://www.usatourist.com/english/places/cities.html

For a first time and new, I would try and visit all those places to at least see them. US is pretty big, like 10 countries into one and pretty weird in many quarters of it with massive differences, so you may have to adjust mentally very quick like travelling into differing countries inside weeks.

How long will you be there?

I would then amend my map as to go from Denver to Las Vegas for the Dam & Canyon.

If you still have the time and patience I would still recommend going to San Francisco and then travel the coastal highway to LA.

Of course going direct from Las Vegas to LA makes more common sense unless you are looking for the scenery.

In that part of the country the Rocky Mountains as well as the Pacific Coast Highway are amazing to experience. Also San Francisco is a very unique and stunning city.

Of course you can go from LA to San Francisco but I was assuming that LA was your departure point home.

i believe i'll be there for about 3 weeks to a month. give or take a day or two. erm... i'm not exactly sure how you use google maps actually. lol.

taking the Coastal Highway will be more sceneric? i'll definitely take that into account since it's my first time there and i'll want to see as much as i can . lol. and LA is my departure point home. hehe.

do you guys know any specific attractions that i should take into account when i plan the trip? me and my family is pretty alright but my bro's still young so i doubt just scenery and such will keep him satisfied . but then of course, Disneyland should be more than enough for him. lol!

and yeah, is it true the Universal Studio or something part of disneyland's the coolest?

Yeah all that is in Orlando, Florida - I think thats near where jephree lives actually

Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, palm trees, good weather... there's many attractions and theme parks there. If you have teenagers and kids with you then you need to go there - its much off your route though. You'll have to go back in triangular routes..

Maybe take this route since you're there?

Here's the map before I drew lines on it, so you can save it and do the planning on it

so other than size what are the other differences? will there be a huge difference when it comes to the rides and such? and well, which would be better in your own opinion? lol.

and well, any suggestions to where i should stop by on the way to Cali's Disneyland?
