    Usenet? huh?

okay. i'm really unsure of what Usenet is. i did a wiki search and came up with some usenet news thingy. huh?

i was searching for torrents when i found out that there's a program called UseneXt or something that allows a person to download from Usenet.

is it any good? pretty expensive looking don't you think?

Usenet was one of the first types of on-line forums.

It is available through your ISP and Outlook Express.

You can also get very specific Usenet readers and some very good ones are free.

Google Groups is Google's version of Usenet but their reader is very basic compared to other software.

I have not heard of it before but it appears to be free software but you pay for downloads.

There are many free Newsreaders: some here:

I have only ever used Usenet for downloading text which was its' primary function.

Apparantly now you can download a lot more than text.

Anyway I am unfamiliar with these newer applications. Perhaps another member will have ideas for you.
