i am looking for a socket 478 pentium 4 3GHz w/ ht tech. Northwood Core, and a socket 775 pentium 4 530...can anyone guide me in the right direction on where i may find these cpu's?...i would prefer retail for both...thank you for your help...im looking to spend around $110 tops...i see oem for about 75 bucks but want to make sure that i get the right type of pentium 4 the must be identical to what i describes for my motherboard will only support these types

    Socket 478 3Ghz w/HT BUT Prescott here if you want: $80 FSB 800MHz 1MB L2 I haven't seen a Northwood at 3.0GHz with all those features that I recall.

Its better than the Northwoods. here's more of them: 3.0GHz with HT

If yu want to see Northwoods, this is the usual top spec in them: 2.8GHz FSB 533MHz

You may find much more. Shop at Tigerdirect, Newegg, eBay if you want as well and Ebuyer etc. You might find something your looking for. I 'm not really sure if you mean $110 tops for each one or combined ?

yeah i mean each and there are northwoods that are 3GHz w/ ht...but ive decided that i am going to go with the socket 775 platform instead so i still need a socket 775 pentium 4 530 or 540, retail would be my prefrence.....can not be a 531 or 541...must be 530 or 540...the difference is that the odd number series are em64t, and my mother board is this...http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ubCategory=280

which i am confused i guess..does this motherboard acept only 32 bit cpu until you flash the bios to update the micro code?..if so then i need a 530 or 540...if not then great ill get a 541...any ideas or anything would be great in directing me in the right direction in getting what i need...thank you

Why do you specifically need 4 Celeron 530 D (not the same as a Pentium) when you can get a Prescott for the Socket T?
    <del>I've not heard of a 530 D but a celeron. Pentium D's are usually above 802 unlike the Celerons.</del>

The 530 signifies a 3.0 GHz and the D signifies 800MHz FSB. That maybe much more expensive than what youre willing to pay.

The average price seems far off from what your wanting to pay. £120 aka $200. If you can get them for below $110, then please let me know as well. I may as well buy one dirt cheap.

    Like here: Pentium 4 530 D is for $200.
    Here's $168

    Here's a 531 not 30 for $78

    Here's a 530 J not D for $86

It looks like your mobo can take any Prescott not just 530D.

what r u talking about?...lets explain this one more time...i have 2 motherboards...1 is a socket 478 and the other is a socket 775...the 478 will only support a 32 bit celeron d or pentium 4 in the northwood core...the 775 will only support 32 bit celeron d 3xx line or pentium 4 5xx in the prescott core; you must boot with a 32 bit cpu in order to flash the bios to upgrade the microcode in order to use a 64 bit pentuim 4 which is the 531, 541 ect....the 530, 540 ect. are the 32 bit versions

i would prefer retail but oem is alright too

i dont want a celeron, i want a socket 775 pentium 4 530 or 540 prescott...and/or a socket 478 pentium 4 3GHz w/ HT tech. northwood core.period..nothing else those are my specs and they simply cannot change due to the motherboards that i have and will be using...if still any one can lead me in the right direction id be very grateful....thank you

Did you bother to check out the links I gave in the last post?

    Take a look at this please before replying: Socket 775 Pentium 4 530 3GHz for $86 AND Socket 478 Pentium 4 3.0GHz w/HT for $84 OE and $86

Why can't your mobo take this (I found no barrier): Intel Pentium 4 531 Prescott 3.0GHz 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor for $78 ?

Can you link where your mobo specifies that you can only take these because thats not what I saw.

no thats not it. it is this:

micro atx socket 775, msi 661fm3-v based on the sis 661fx and 964 chipset...please find this on new egg and read the reviews....in there will state the issue with booting from a 64 bit cpu until the flash the bios to update the micro code, which will then enable use of a 64 bit cpu like the 531 or 541..until then i need a 530 or 540, preferably retail, but either will work...thank you so much
